4th game of the year cleared: Furi
Since we're going to Taiwan in a week, I opted to play a short game and this was highly recommended on the Trash Taste Podcast as a cool boss rush game so it sounded like my kind of thing and it was!
Really had to lock in for basically every fight.
Oh shit, she needs shells to ascend... I don't have shells...
Under 10 pulls! I still have pity stocked up for the Count!
Ordeal Call 2 starts today, which means I will be rolling for Marie Alter while trying to still have pity saved for The Count of Monte Cristo in a week or two.
The actual wish is to get Jalter and Kagekiyo too, but I don't think my chances will be that good.
I've had a couple of reminders about Breath of Fire 4. Loved the game when I played it.
Really liked the manga adaptation of it too.
Every time I see someone post about our old traumatic PSA ads on TV, I end falling down a rabbit hole of rewatching compilation videos of them on YouTube.
There's a weird nostalgia of seeing how shocking those ads were back then.
Today Blossom was working a weekend shift so I took the opportunity to do some baking for surprise dessert when she got home.
I baked a couple of coffee cakes with a mocha ganache. Retrying a recipe I tried 2 years ago now with smaller cake tins so the cakes weren't flat.
Better success this time.
Blossom isn't on Bluesky, so I am posting one I made after consulting with her on her favourites
OK the new SAO game has a mode that deletes your save when you die just to be lore accurate.
That's actually really cool.
I always feel a bit awkward listing NieR as a game that defines me because I associate the series more with Blossom's fandoms since she got into it via the OG game on Xbox 360.
But Automata was one of the most cathartic gaming experiences in my life and left a huge impact on me.
Interestingly enough, I never actually got the Knife ending. I got Sub first, then Axe, Coffin, Safe and True.
After seeing Knife ending, I maintain that Sub is the best first ending to get because of just how baffling it feels when you reach it.
I think 999 edges it out for me. It felt like a complete story while VLR's direct link into ZTD sorta leaves the ending as being less satisfying an experience despite everything else leading up to it being fantastic.
I also heard she really likes Char, so it makes sense they gave her the Char mecha as part of the collab
I don't really know Suisei outside knowing she's the definitive idol talent of Hololive and she sang the ED to GQUUUUUUX, but damn her Sazabi looks nice... And it's the RG too which was one of my favourite builds to make.
I like that by having the Nonary Games bundle exist, you were able to include both 999 and VLR as one entry.
Quite a few of these games basically formed a core part of my fandoms and personality.
Others I feel like are the pinnacle of their series or simply made a huge impact on how I consume media.
And then there's a couple that I sunk all my money into at the arcade

New SAO movie focused on new characters that aren't Kirito and Asuna that ties into a new game where you play through Aincrad as your own character?
Yes, please!
I know the SAO games are pretty jank, I played through Hollow Fragment, but had a fun time... I should really play the rest...
Looked out the window to see if I could see the lunar eclipse, but there's too much cloud cover as expected, since the weather has been particularly bad today.
3rd game of the year cleared: Great Ace Attorney 2 - Resolve
Finished off the Great Ace Attorney duology. I wasn't sure what to expect when I started the duology, but I think this game in particular might have become my favourite of the franchise... Or at least until I play Investigations 2
The first Overload I went to was in 2014, I think? And my second Overload was in 2024.
It was surprising going from what was a 1 day 90% Artist Alley event to what felt like a smaller scale version of SMASH.
GGWP reminds me of the older version of Overload.
Watching Golden Kamuy really is an exercise of laughing, crying and writing down notes of places to visit in Hokkaido
I've been watching the occasional episode of Magic Knight Rayearth because I want to go through some of the older isekai anime that I missed and damn it really has this after school or Saturday morning anime feel that I get from DBZ, Digimon and Shinzo.
If she doesn't move, we won't notice she's not one of our plushies or cushions...
Blossom and I built Zoids today.
I built the Hell Cat and she built Irvine's Command Wolf. Both are the Realize model kits.
I want to get the Kotobukiya kit of the Irvine Command Wolf some day, but it's very difficult to find and very expensive as a result.
Playing Great Ace Attorney Chronicles
Sholmes' deductions go off the rails, but often just feel a little silly.
*A Lion had set upon this apartment and tore up the carpet*
"This man ate soap and died"
Then all of a sudden, you get "Our culprit in his scientific genius reversed gravity!"
Oh, power is back
Power be like, you don't have lights, but your home office can run, but your laptop won't charge. So you can work, but only for a short while.
Also your fridge is sorta working but everything in your freezer is slowly defrosting cause we can't keep it cold enough. The TV works though.
Power's still limited and the trains are cancelled until 10am.
That certainly makes work awkward.
Hmm, never experienced a brownout before. Feels weird having power, but not really.
