I'm #1 on google thanks to AI BULL💩 - the modern internet is a joke. YouTube video by Louis Rossmann

Google prioritises AI slop. Rossman is furious, so should you be.

Everything prioritised on Google is either going to be created/written with AI or run through an AI filter.

as one does, I’ve been googling a lot of stuff recently and it’s crazy that more than a year in they still insist on putting wrong information via AI overview at the top of almost every search. crazy how quickly ive become accustomed to reflexively scroll past/ignore

"And I never say no"

We need to have a serious talk about the way "AI companion" apps not only prey on the vulnerable, but are priming their users to ignore consent and to conflate love with control.

We need AI regulations across so many sectors, but this area is particularly horrifying.

Screenshot of opinion piece published on El País titled “The truth cannot be depend on Google”

“The paradox is that we have access to more sources of information than ever, and we end up resorting to only one. Chatbots and AI results are the information jail of our time.”

Greed is Destroying the World YouTube video by Drew Gooden

Finally got around to watch this Drew Gooden video.

He's presenting what a whole lot of journalists and researchers have been writing about the AI industry with the intensity of someone who is rightly pissed off.

"AI is a direct attack on the way we verify information: AI both creates fake sources and obscures its actual sources.

That is the opposite of what librarians do, and teachers do, and scientists do, and experts do."

The men who raised the flags Nigel Farage says this summer’s movement was led by ‘ordinary people’ expressing their patriotism. That’s not what we found

“Farage told us the flag-raisers were just ordinary folk sticking it to the system. A few months worth of local journalism later, that now looks like a shaky claim.”

“These findings follow previous research which concluded that the more people learn about how AI works, the less they trust it.

The opposite was also true — AI’s biggest fans tended to be those who understood the least about the tech.”

People are using ChatGPT twice as much as they were last year. They’re still just as skeptical of AI in news. "For news organizations, our findings are in some ways bitter medicine."

Google traffic analysis by housefresh.com.

"...That is why we added the websites belonging to those invited to the Googleplex for the Web Creator Conversation Event in 2024, those who have been public about attending Google Publisher Meetups in the past three years, and those who have been public about their struggles with Google in recent months.

84% of independent web creators analyzed have experienced traffic losses, with 43% of sites receiving 80% less traffic from Google Search between 2023 and 2025."

"In the age of Big Tech feeding large language models with stolen information in order to sell you the dream of AI, Alphabet decided to kill its golden goose and, with it, the free and open web that created the conditions for Google Search to thrive."

OpenAI won’t say whose content trained its video tool. We found some clues. Tests by The Washington Post show OpenAI’s video generator Sora can mimic Netflix shows, TikTok clips and movies, suggesting it used versions of the originals.

Reporters @nitasha.bsky.social and @kevinschaul.bsky.social used Sora to create hundreds of videos that show it can closely mimic pop culture characters and other copyrighted content.
