okay gonna post a bit in this thread about boarding the alastor vs vox conversation in #hazbinhotelseason2 🥰

I loved boarding this scene, Lucifer and Vox are two high-energy characters with so many opportunities for over the top expressions and it's hilarious just how unresponsive Lu is to Vox's intimidation. Add Al's usual negging and it's just the most entertaining combo of people who hate each other

My job as a story artist is that I’m given sections/sequences of a script and basically blueprint a visual idea of what the final product could potentially look like. Then it’s handed off to animators, bg design, and many other departments 💖

More boards talk! I also had the privilege of storyboarding the song Losing Streak, sung by the incomparable Blake Roman. This song is BEAUTIFUL and his voice is just insane, so I was REALLY excited to get to do this one!

“The rational thing to do, if you’re not an insane person…” I am an animation psychopath 😂 No rotoscoping, no 3D, just pure chaos :)

“Insane work for freaks” made me laugh out loud haha!

Thank you! I planned out how I wanted the camera, bg & characters to move, placed down keyframes & breakdowns for both Vox & Lucifer (each of them have more than 20). Lucifer had a handful of arcs for the inbetweens, but every single corner of Vox’s design had its own arc for the smooth rotation 🥲

I stay true with the characters in all my work: happy characters are gonna be happy, evil characters are gonna be evil. When it comes to antagonistic characters, folks who interpret this as me “condoning their actions”, this may be a shock to you: I do not.

It's time for more boarding talk! So I had the pleasure of storyboarding the song Love in a Bottle for Hazbin Hotel! Firstly, it was a total honor to get to storyboard something for a song sung by Keith David. The man has SUCH a killer voice. Bucket list item for sure haha.

Such a beautiful sequence and so many fun visuals! I love your sense of pacing and world building, having the audience follow along the transitions with ease ✨🫶

I imported the bg layout I boarded onto my animation file, timed and moved the layout to sync up where the camera starts and stops trucking in (imagine the bg being a very wide scroll), and I eyeballed where to place Vox and Lucifer’s keyframes while timing it to the music 💖🥰
