Today we remember the legacy and sacrifice of the Reverent Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. We will not join in the whitewashing and sanitizing of Dr King's contributions. This was not a man who was passive or submissive to authority. He spent time in jail for participating in civil disobedience.

We lost a civil rights champion this week. At 15 y/o, Claudette Colvin refused to give up her seat on a segregated bus, an act of defiance later replicated by Rosa Parks in the protest we're all familiar with. Let's honor her courage & continue to bend the moral arc of the universe towards justice.

We talked about citizens getting informed and voting in every election, and why it's so crucial that we all participate in order to create a more just and equitable world where everyone is included.

Three years ago, November 19th-20th, five beautiful people's lives were cut short, and 25 others were wounded in a hate crime at Club Q that continues to shake the LGBTQ+ community in Colorado Springs.
