Honestly though I was a game dev first and build settings as a hobby so I do *way too much* building before I write a single word.

I'd say one thing people really neglect is food -> culture. Food is culture, and it has a huge impact on everything around it.

I meant PC scaling as progression. Enemy scaling to your level is silly.

As a mechanic, if a buff is necessary, then they're poorly designed. The whole concept is a trade of resources for a temporary boost of power to give you an adaptable advantage, if you just build everything like that as a passive then you're probably sacrificing scaling :/

WHY.

With a little over 48 hours to go until #WondrousEnvironments Kickstarter ends, now seems like a good time to start teasing the many fantastical Locations, Regions, and Adversaries you can find inside.

First up, the Wondrous Locations.

Yeah, the more focused the character the more costly it gets, but you're opening up an entire additional audience by including it.

I know it's not simple to implement: things like this cost time & money when it comes to game dev, but in all sincerity being able to do something as "perceived simple" as swap your character model from male to female is something that can turn a game from good into great.

There's an era of warfare called "Pike and Shot" that's pretty neat—a cross section between more medieval tactics and updated renaissance weaponry during the 15th-16th centuries.

Lasted basically until rifles came into play.

You know what I'm loving at the moment in this community, is the number of Kickstarters that are going up that aren't D&D5e-specific.

There's a lot of agnostic, there's a lot of mixed system projects, and then there's specific but non-D&D.

Nature is thriving in TTRPG world.

Fortunately the views of a minor are amplified by social media, so the reality is that Trump is incredibly unpopular and right now, at least, what is require is individuals to not get lost to despair and continue to not comply.

A fight can just be fun, ya know? It the context of a game, the only reason something *needs* to exist is to create fun.

This feels more like narrative input than gaming oriented, is it?

I'm going to do be doing a Kickstarter. If I get this early funding it'll be mostly to make a REALLY good Kickstarter. But, obvs you know, the beta will be available by the time I launch, so no matter what people will get it without having to wait years.

I may actually be getting some funding soon. If I do I'll have a lot more time to organize more targeted playtesting.

In L.O.R.E., my soon-to-be #ttrpg, you finish character creation by choosing your Starter Pack which grants you all of your early items, spare currency, and even some potential property or assets, like a war horse or a residence.

And yes, the guidebook has rules for property baked into equipment!

Maybe a disliked take but I think the world/setting should be established before a campaign is even a thing, so nix 6.

Then, Main Story -> Development -> NPCs -> PC Story/Interest (same thing imo). Just because PCs have an outsized impact doesn't mean they're not supplemental.

I love the proliferation of Luddites, especially because the actual Luddites WERE right, it did grossly screw them over when it came to employment and quality of output.
