I haven’t done a HIV clinic in 18 months (PhD OOP and now mat leave) so large caveat but my understanding is - not for routine practice, useful to inform future vax/cure trials.

Not confirmed yet, but The DHS Program, which has operated for 40+ years collecting data in over 90+ countries and is the primary source of data for monitoring global health, is on the list of contracts to be cut. This is devastating on so many levels.

Early Tecovirimat Treatment for Mpox Disease Among People With HIV - PubMed Results of this cohort study support starting tecovirimat in all PWH as soon as an mpox diagnosis is suspected. Additional research is warranted to confirm these findings.

US based STOMP trial of tecovirimat (tpoxx) for clade 2 mpox fails to demonstrate efficacy benefit. Just as it did not in PALM 007 in clade 1 mpox in DRC.

There is no known treatment for mpox

Vaccination is the key control strategy and more research is needed.

Reasons given for staying on oral PrEP:
inconvenience of frequent appointments (for injections), not liking needles, happy with pills.
