I feel that if Judge Roberts is confirmed to be the Chief Justice of the United States, the Supreme Court would no longer hear the people's cries for justice. I feel that the leadership of the Court will promote politics over the protection of individual rights and liberties. If the Federal Courts had abandoned us in the civil rights movement in the name of judicial restraint, we might still be struggling with the burden of legal segregation in America today. Jurist Roberts's memos reveal him to be hostile towards civil rights, affirmative action and the Voting Rights Act. He has even said that Voting Rights Act violations, and I quote, "should not be made too easy to prove.'

The director of student media at Indiana University was fired amidst a dispute between university leadership and editors at the Indiana Daily Student over what content gets printed in the student newspaper. As director of student media, Jim Rodenbush did not directly oversee or have any say over the content published in the IDS, per a charter between the IDS and the university. But he told IndyStar his firing follows a series of meetings with IU Media School leadership in which it grew increasingly apparent they were expecting him to officially prohibit students from publishing news.

I teach computer science students. Many of them come in believing that quant analysis is "real" and qual is "made up." I consider it a big win if I can convince them, by the end, that it's all equally made up. (And that's OK!)

I spend all semester in my research methods class trying to teach the grad students that there are no "right" answers, that all data is inherently subjective, that what we choose to measure and how we choose to measure it are just as (if not more) important than what the measurements say.
