I genuinely couldn't remember before putting this on if I'd seen it before, or if it's just one of those films that's so ingrained in popular culture that you think you have. But I hadn't. It's fun, has likeable leads, and feels more grown up than rom-coms have tended to become since.

This is so good. A remake of a Korean film about a couple of conspiracy nuts who kidnap a powerful corporate CEO, convinced she's an alien intent on destroying the Earth. Jesse Plemons is superb in it, and I *love* that in a film centred around conspiracy nutjobs, the Earth is flat.

Harry Redknapp is nearly 80, having officially announced his retirement from football management, and hasn't been in active management now for 8 and a half years. I'm bemused by current fans calling for his reinstatement as interim manager.

I now have 3 months to dream of Xabi Alonso, who will surely be offered the job, but would surely decline.

It's sometimes really jarring seeing pre-2001 New York movies.

Put on The Usual Suspects and had my mind blown a little seeing on the opening credits the same name come up as both editor and composer, but apparently John Ottman had 2 strings to his bow. Imagine having the talent to be both an Oscar-winning editor and composer of the likes of Kiss Kiss Bang Bang

When we bought Gallagher, I approved because he thought he was one of those take responsibility, grab the game by the scruff of its neck-type of players. Finally there is what I had hoped for.

This is so, so good. McDonagh's Banshees and Ebbing were the ones to get best film Oscar noms, but this is his best. Blackly funny, but with a strong streak of pathos running through it.

2/2 after the last one was as much a coming of age story and family drama as it was a zombie film, with the massive shift in tone and direction in this one, the lead character from the previous film had almost no character arc. And like the previous film, a "huh?" ending to set up the next one.

A ★★★½ diary entry for 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple (2026)

This is good, eventually. The first act is *so* dark-hearted and unpleasantly gruesome that I actually wasn't really getting into it, but the film gets better as it goes on and the ending is really good. Ralph Fiennes is especially good, but I thought that... 1/2

I'm not a lyrics guy. Don't usually pay much attention to them, but a line from a song I've been listening to makes me smile:
"I've been watching too many movies that do not pass the Bechdel Test, and that makes me feel like I am a bad feminist. But I pirate them, so that makes it better, I guess."

Much as I disliked Spoti's behaviour - pushing AI, paying artists poorly, investing in arms - some things they did well. I've discovered a fair amount of new artists through them.

I made the switch from Spotify to Tidal, because, y'know, Spotify, and Tidal seems kind of broken. I keep seeing 2 separate accounts for the same artists, or if there are 2 artists with the same name, they put tracks on the wrong one, and their recommended tracks based on previous plays are not good
