π When βNeutralβ Isnβt Neutral: Why Standards Must Consider Gender πΊ Many standards are developed with the assumption that a oneβsizeβfitsβall approach works for everyone β but evidence shows this isnβt the case. What looks neutral on paper can, in fact, fail to protect women as effectively as men. π From safety equipment designed around male body types to technologies calibrated without womenβs input, standards that overlook gender can lead to real risks in everyday life. When gender is not actively considered in standard development, products and systems may work for some, but not for all. π‘πͺ β οΈ This isnβt just theory β itβs about health, safety, and inclusion in design and policy. π To build standards that truly serve everyone, we must ensure gender perspectives are included from the start β in data, research, testing, and decisionβmaking. Standards matter. And so does inclusivity. Letβs work toward a future where both go hand in hand. π¬β¨ Read the full article in the new issue of HesaMag (nΒ°31): https://lnkd.in/euTuCCWJ #TrustStandards #Standards4all
π¨ βNeutralβ standards β safe for everyone! When gender isnβt considered, tools, equipment & tech designed for βdefaultβ users can put women at risk. πΊ
β
We must ensure to include gender from day 1 β in research, testing & decisions. Standards should protect all users equallyπ‘

π¦ Digital technologies are not neutral. Their impact depends on governance, worker voice and regulatory choices. The challenge ahead is to ensure that innovation strengthens, rather than undermines, job quality, fundamental rights and collective power.
13.02.2026 09:01 β π 0 π 2 π¬ 1 π 0βοΈ Competitiveness through standards
Europe cannot compete by lowering labour standards or replacing people with machines. Its strength lies in quality jobs, democratic governance, investment in skills, and clear rules that protect fundamental rights.
π€ Collective bargaining as a regulatory tool
Social dialogue is emerging as a crucial instrument to govern AI and algorithmic management in practice, ensuring workers have a real voice in how technologies are deployed.
π Regulation beyond the "workplace"
Work is no longer bounded by place or time. As the notion of the "worksphere" suggests, protection must follow the worker across hybrid, remote and platform settings.
π AI, surveillance & platformisation
Digital technologies intensify monitoring and reshape labour processes, often affecting autonomy and inclusion. While fully platformised work remains limited, digital monitoring & AM are widespread & frequently linked to work intensification and reduced autonomy.
π Rethinking job quality in a turbulent era
As work and the workforce change, we must better understand peopleβs evolving experience of work to overcome conceptual confusion and fragmentation. A changing workforce calls for questioning and revising existing approaches to defining βgood workβ.
π Across plenaries and sessions presenting cutting-edge research, several key themes emerged ποΈ
