I don’t know about “so many” since I’m in Massachusetts, but one of the most vile, “convince African countries to criminalize sex relationships” ultra conservative Christians ran a coffee shop half a block from where I worked in Springfield, Mass.

I though it was all the unnecessary stuff we’re buying off Amazon that’s destroying society.

I got rid of my Ring cameras and switched to REOLink a few years ago due to subscription fees and they work fine, even remotely. No cloud - it just saves to a SD card. They also make a hard drive that you can add, but I haven’t tried it.

As a woman, my evangelical upbringing trained me to believe I couldn’t take care of myself and make my own decisions without parental male input. Intellectually I know this isn’t true, but emotionally it’s harder

Agree - for me, it was definitely taken away and made clear that relationship wouldn’t be restored unless I agreed to go back to the way things were (being abused). I’m ok most of the time (years later), but I struggle esp. when I’m having problems

What’s so hard is that later, if/when you do stand up to them, they (a) bully even harder and/or (b) abandon you, destroying whatever minuscule safety may have existed. It’s crushing and recovery takes a long time.

I’m fairly wonkish (I have a policy job) so I want to engage her in a way that won’t make her eyes glaze over!

My response for now was “long story - can discuss later.” Would love to know how people are engaging their kids on this issue
