My line would be to pour large and public amounts of sh1t on to Farage’s head. Need we worry about Badenoch? I doubt it, myself, as she shows herself to be little more than a keyboard warrior aligned to X. And, to be controversial, lines of co-operation need to be extended to LDs, Greens and others.
We all recall the Goves, the Farages etc telling us that this was a genius appointment. The very people now exercising their apparent horror that anyone would send Mandelson to Washington. So maybe it can be reversed on to their bad judgement but I doubt it. It’s not going to go away.
My dear Pecksniff what to do about Mandelson? I agree that he presents the greatest danger to Starmer’s premiership. I remember thinking at the time that this was a disaster waiting to happen. To see him sucking up to Trump, as he did, was vomit inducing. But, of course, that was the whole point.
Something to the effect that The Liar is of the opinion that Starmer has made us worse than a laughing stock. I think that makes it game, set and match to Starmer. I do not get how the right are so unable to see that Trump is completely insane. I think the public sees it. You and I certainly do!
Should it ever come to pass then I expect to see the words “You heard it here first” emblazoned across the bar at The Muckrakers. As to the rest of the column, I have made the assertion that Starmer might have got it just about right. As I write this, a headline has crossed my screen from Johnson.
My dear Pecksniff. I am intrigued. The potential resignation of Mahmood, albeit a speculative note, brings joy to the heart. I feel this may be a matter conjured from the bottom of a glass of Old Printable but is the kind of thing that should be shoved out into the water to see who hooks it.
Glassman should be in RefUK.
I responded to that by telling him that I knew who had lost their marbles and it wasn’t Starmer.
Delighted to hear it.
He really believes that 14.000 people don’t work? He needs to get a grip. A goodly number of RefUK supporters are either unemployed or unemployable. Some of them are even councillors or MPs.
I think, Peter, the Mail knows exactly what it is doing.
Starmer telling Labour MPs today that the Greens are "divisive," "sectarian," and "not the kind environmentalists they pretend" is not going to go down well with the millions who now back Greens. It'll simply tell them Labour doesn't hear us. More tin-eared stupidity.
I should think RefUK will be coming out of the UN.
Not to mention pissing up a football club.
Rupert Lowe. “Hold my beer”.
I’m sure that’s right. However, I note that the potential winners in Gorton and Denton could win the seat with around 20% of the vote such is the likely spread between parties. I think that may be the entire electorate rather than who votes but we can see the distortion. RefUK are an instant danger.
That and a commitment to rejoin the EU might settle the case. In the meantime I think I saw some talk of Dave Nellist in relation to Your Party. Aka Dave Spart, I think his presence will ensure that Your Party will split like the proverbial log. 700,000 people must be deeply disappointed.
Obviously we need PR. RefUK does (or did) support PR. We need have no trust in that position now. I can see no way that PR is introduced before the next election but if it were to be a manifesto commitment for Labour it might encourage tactical voting on the grand scale to make sure it happens.
My dear Pecksniff I am keen to allow myself to be dragged into the belief that RefUK is for the dustbin and the emergence of Restore does make that more likely. The difficulty I have is that our electoral system has form in allowing a party with 34% of the vote to nab 63% of the seats.
As an 80 year old allow me to confirm that the moment EU membership or PR are presented to me I shall be voting for both.
When are they going to give Mad Nad a job?
George Osborne ought to be able to fit it in around all of his other stuff. I’m sure he could get Irish citizenship or, more likely, buy Cypriot citizenship.
He supported it 5 minutes ago.
It’s because people don’t understand it and believe the vague promises of a “British Bill of Rights”. They just want rid of immigrants and fail to understand that they’ll be next for the chopper.

I never go in one of his pubs. I’ll be doubling down on that now.
And then we hear from some fool on Today (yesterday) that Keir was blinded by Mandelson’s lies. Did the idiot not think that the impression the listener was left with was that Starmer was easily fooled. Not a good look. How Labour gets out of this mess I don’t know but it is imperative that they do.
