The Bug Farm students and seasonal staff team had quite a catch in the moth trap this week!

A very long Green Bean stick insect on my hand and wrist.

I had the time of my life at @thebugfarm.bsky.social today, making friends with a green bean stick insect and Madagascar hissing cockroach AND I saw a hummingbird hawk-moth for the first time among the wildflowers. So many wonderful bugs both inside and out. Living my best Animal Crossing life.

Day...week...year made! We have a nest of barn owl chicks! We are over the moon. These three chicks have been weighed (they're really heavy for their age) and ringed by ecologist Paddy Jenks.

What a glorious picture of the whole family together.

I last spotted a green hairstreak butterfly on the road through the centre of Dowrog Common on a hot, sunny day in May in 2009. Yesterday, I spotted this beauty in exactly the same spot as my 2009 spot.

Happy #nationalhedgerowweek. This was the first new hedge that we planted (with @pembscoast) at The Bug Farm in around 2014-2015. 10 years on and it is now taller than me - at least 10-foot high in most places .
