A few frames from Saturday’s Lunar New Year in Sonoma and SRJC’s win over Sierra College in Santa Rosa. #kentporterphotography #photojournalism @pressdemo.bsky.social
My colleagues Isabel Beer and @annavarm.bsky.social worked on this story for several weeks:

Say what you will about the incoming rain in NorCal, but spring is closer than you think. The early mustard cover crop growth is hands down the best I’ve seen in years in Sonoma and Napa Counties. #kentporterphotography @pressdemo.bsky.social #photojournalusm
Difficult to compete with the Super Bowl in a daily newspaper, so here’s a few images which weren’t published (online though) from Saturday’s North Bay League qualifying wrestling tournament in Santa Rosa. #kentporterphotography @pressdemo.bsky.social #photojournalism
Looking forward to the pic, brother.
Wait, I thought football was over.
Out of a total of 571 RAWS sites in NorCal, 57 stations are nearly at red flag criteria, while another 12, below, in the Mayacamas Mountains, are in RF criteria. The fuel moistures are very high, so fire threat is very low. Still, offshore wind is an equalizer of sorts.
Nice image. Love the B&W.
A substorm #auroraborealis over Clear Lake, California, Monday evening. #kentporterphotography #photojournalism
No, it’s obvious he’s in a very difficult position. The camera is ancillary.
And that’s your first reaction?
It was 69° where I made the photos. Short sleeve weather.
I guess it was a case of lightening after the lights came back on.
Yep
The SpaceX Dragon leaves a plasma trail as it re enters Earths atmosphere over Geyserville, Ca., early Thursday morning in Sonoma County. @pressdemo.bsky.social #photojournalism #kentporterphotography
It was 10° above normal in the hills in the Mayacamas and outside of Sonoma County’s valleys.
Nov. and Dec., in Sonoma, Lake and Mendocino Counties were warm. Thinking photographically down the road, I hit Lake Mendo and Lake Pillsbury for a before pic. Luckily, late Dec. and early Jan. mitigated low lake levels. Dec (and Nov-Dec) 2025 were the warmest on record for Western U.S.
I spy @fuzyjoe.bsky.social
Coastal range experiencing offshore flow at higher elevations, with temps boosted and low RH. Fire danger really low because you know, all the precipitation, so not a lot of worries. Septanuary?
Ugh. Glad your safe.
Curious as to how you were treated today.
2025 seems so long ago.
I have a headache, does that count?
At last, the 49ers figured out fireworks look better when the sun goes down.
Last but not least…

It’s the time of year when photographers take stock of what they made during the past 365 days. Here are some of my favorites.
There’s always 20% chance of anything.
