One reflection talking to other Jews today is how unshocking this is.

The UK recognising a Palestinian State is a significant step along the way and I have consistently called for it since being elected. I support the conditions put forward by the UK Government which the Israeli Government should be doing irrespective of recognition. My belief is that the UK should be recognising Palestine now, but I understand that the UK Government are trying to push the Israeli Government to end the famine in Gaza, annexation of land in the West Bank and start a final status peace process.

I have supported the creation of a Palestinian State my whole life.

Just last week, I reaffirmed my support for the UK recognition of Palestine as a state in a joint letter with more than 100 Labour colleagues.
