"This is Jo. She's queer. She has a complicated relationship with her parents. She enjoys wrestling and cries when a character dies in a movie. She has a place in her heart for all the world's people. I'm going to throw her into hell and see what happens."

When I began my transition 5 years ago, I knew that there would be places in the world forever closed to me because of who I am. I honestly did not, in my wildest dreams, imagine that the UK would be one of them, let alone imagine that happening under a Labour government.

If I have learned nothing else recently it's that cis people claiming allyship have been waiting to gleefully do a transphobia at the first opportunity. They're all telling us that they see our identities as still being conditional upon their approval.

Caitlyn Jenner is πŸ’© and so is deadnaming.

These executive orders on banning federally funded entities from recognizing trans people or disallowing them from using the bathroom are not self-executing or immediately enforceable. They require formal rule making at a minimum. They are a scare tactic. Ignore and do not comply in advance.

It's fine to have a sensible chuckle at the wording of an executive order being contradictory or nonsensical, but please please please do not mistake that for a flaw.

The anti-trans order being scientifically illiterate is an affirmative declaration that the truth of the matter does not matter.

I had to miss 3 ballet classes after my surgery and I can't begin to explain how incredible it felt to be back at the barre again.

Being able to tune out the world and tune into your self is going to be a valuable oasis in the days and months ahead.

if puberty blockers are banned, parents of trans kids have a moral duty to obtain and administer the correct hormones for their children

blockers were always a compromise between the happiness of your very own trans child and the happiness of weird sexual perverts like wes streeting and jkr

I tried that with this one, but I probably need to learn the tags that stick.

I really want to like Bluesky more, but engagement differences are astronomical on Threads vs here.

I dunno what the deal is with the algo here, but it's deadening.

John A. Macdonald was a racist drunk who married his first cousin.

Kind of explains why PP admires him so much.

Pro tip: if you're reading "news" from Post Media sources in Canada, you're reading American propaganda. This is not a Canadian company.

She's right, but the problem is that a lot of Democrats are just as bigoted as Republicans, especially as it applies to trans people, or they just don't care.

I usually had it in the workplace, typically with respect to observations about my leadership. Not tough enough, not really your thing, you need to push more, and the like.

I always found it funny because, I have been a people leader for about 80% of my career.

Related, I share it.

I think one of the reasons many cis men can hate us so much is that we know what they say when they don't think women are in the room and they're afraid that we'll share it.

🎡 Ding dong the bigot is gone. 🎡

Mind you, she's sure to find opportunity at the myriad of hate rags around, but I am still enjoying the moment.

My biggest tip for anyone planning GCS is that they should buy 3x as much toilet paper as they think they'll need. Don't buy the cheap stuff either.

Seriously. Trust me on this.

It helps a little. Hands are the worst, but moisturizer for the rest of you is also a really good thing!

i love the story about Elon lying about being good at a video game because it’s not the worst thing he’s done by a mile but it is maybe the most fundamentally pathetic

I really hate the notion of "for the time it was groundbreaking" when it comes to trans casting.

It's not about the quality of the story or acting, casting a cis man as a trans woman is always harmful. Gen X grew up on this, look what they are doing to our rights. It's not representation.

A Google image search for "trans sonic the hedgehog" is a joy.
