A tad surprised that the 2024 GC Ltd accounts were signed off by auditors at the end of last year, with absolutely no commentary whatsoever within it on the reputational risk they were suffering.

Indeed. Looking at small/medium indie breweries’ accounts, I consistently see director loans or HMRC liabilities increasing, or both, to cover losses. That’s not sustainable.
Also not a surprise that the family behind the most successful of these breweries (Thornbridge) has deeper pockets than most.

No worries :) One clarification: Overtone is in process of being wound up in the Court of Session following a hearing on the 13th - that means compulsory liquidation, not administration. I assume HMRC instigated the petition as their last accounts showed £120K owing to them.

Wider context: lots of other smaller but established and reputable indie craft beer names going under (eg. Overtone just the other day), and many Craft beer positioned bars closing as well. We talk about £5-6 pint for cask, but for craft it’s £2-3 more, and it’s still highly competitive.

Take (small Bd shareholder) - not a surprise. Would expect brewery and bars to be split; both pre-pack admins. Watt may come back in somewhere, but there’s risk… he’s a toxic shareholder who created a toxic culture & a lot of -ve goodwill. Perhaps too aligned with RW politics now to be a net asset?

You know it’s slow day for new releases when Quo leads James Hamilton’s Record Mirror Disco page.

An absolute tragedy. I helped to underwrite millions of dollars for an American company, helping to turn it from a garage entity into a Fortune 500 company. The CIA World Factbook was a reliable source to determine country facts and came from reliable sources. The world is factually poorer tonight.

The HMRC stuff won’t relate to prior to being bought by Keystone in 2023, that would have been part of the administration for each of the original companies. So, it’s accrued since then until now.

Not a surprise to see that the IP/Goodwill of BBN and Brick was valued at a nominal £1K each in this latest pre-pack. Appears the Brick Taproom in Peckham will continue under new ownership. @londonbeercity.bsky.social
