A friend of mine had this in their place. Space saving but also difficult or impossible for dogs, children or the elderly to use the stairs.

As a public service, I thought I'd offer a little constructive criticism of the most popular styles of bike racks, since it appears that the entities that manufacture and install these racks are clueless about the needs of actual bike riders.

Increase frequencies on route 8 would be a nice start!

The Newport Redbar Rails Inn Kingpins

These kinds of human scale, mixed-use Midwest dive bars are illegal to open and operate in most American neighborhoods.

Just imagine saying this about another country. Would you visit? Do business with? Sign a treaty with?

It’s gonna take a lot to heal from this.

@wsdot.wa.gov any updates on this?

Has anyone reported it via Find it Fix it? I’ve been pleasantly surprised (for the most part) by the city’s response via the app.

Let’s do it! I’m guessing this will require more funding too. Curious what the plan is to obtain it.

Really excited about this project! I do worry a little about right-hook crashes as vehicles turn onto 10th Ave NE. I wonder if SDOT could ban right turns for vehicles here?

Staying current with US news is just exhausting. But then I keep thinking, well, the horrors persist but so do I.

To repair we need folks who care about making this a better country. I like to think we can all play a part in that.

I think it's funny how much time and effort we spend trying to create warnings for future civilizations about radioactive waste dumps, as if any of us actually heeded the warnings on ancient tombs. Humans do not heed warnings unless deeply tied to religious dogma. And even then!

"How can men help women feel safer cycling at night?"

Social designers Lisa Strijbosch and Maartje de Goede in partnership with the @Fietsersbond.nl created the 'Mannenstoplicht' to encourage men to voluntarily stop and reflect on their role in nightlife."

These renderings are super cool 😊. With the limited sunlight between the buildings, does it make more sense to just do away with the side yards?

Map showing the 1 hour and 22min walk between the Kent Des Moines Link station and the Kent Station for the Sounder.

Another naming issue I see: the Kent/Des Moines Station (Link) is rather far from Kent Station (Sounder). Seems easy to mix up.

I propose Kent/Des Moines renamed as Highline College.

It’s nice when station names help show actual destinations.

Bronze plaque saying "A Letter to the Future. Ok is the first Icelandic glacier to lose its status as a glacier. In the next 200 years all our glaciers are expected to follow the same path. This monument is to acknowledge that we know what is happening and what needs to be done. Only you know if we did it. August 2019. 415ppm CO2"

TIL about a memorial ceremony in Iceland in 2019 to mark the end of a glacier, changing the place name from Okjökull to Ok (jökull = glacier). Uncompromising wording on the bronze plaque:
"This is to acknowledge that we know what is happening and what needs to be done. Only you know if we did it".

I feel like the DT Seattle stations would be the easiest to implement given the generous mezzanines. Wish we would also allow a cafe or something there too

Basket of an e-bike holding ice, and a 6-pack of beer sitting on a Link platform New Sound Transit Link map on the wall of Link platform

Riding my e-bike (with a Link connection) to a Friendsgiving. Yup I’m home.

Btw love seeing these new system maps up. The 2 Line connection across the Lake cannot come soon enough. I’m ready for double the frequency headed north!

POLITICO Pro: Trump administration proposals seek to eliminate transit funding DOT recently sent two proposals to the White House budget office seeking to pare back transit money.

Trump admin Is attempting to massive cut federal transit funds, seeking to:
1–Eliminate transit account, which funds billions of $ in capital expenses for transit agencies
2–Prevent state DOTs from “flexing” funds for transit

These changes, if they occurred, would be devastating for US transit.

E-bike riders. My landlord says e-bikes may no longer be allowed in my building due to perceived fire risk

I guess the Tesla in the garage is fine 🙄

Is this legal? Not in my lease. Battery is UL certified, so truly low risk

Maybe this can be a new renter protection? @wilsonkatieb.bsky.social

My hot take: we’re letting good be the enemy of great. How about we make the sounder better/more frequent? Quadruple Amtrak cascades route? Dual track the tunnel under downtown Seattle!

All things doing for cheaper, faster, and easier. Wait for HSR for decades and still have shitty sounder servic3

Bruce Harrell can still lose the Seattle mayoral race if late ballots break significantly for Katie Wilson Those who aren't steeped in Emerald City politics might look at the initial results for Mayor of Seattle and conclude the incumbent has won reelection. But the challenger can still win with a late ballot surge. That's not only possible or plausible, it's probable.

I’ve said it before, it was such a mistake letting cities name their stations. Dropping „Downtown” from both would be so much less confusing

The title of an onion article or just 2025 in the US. I’m afraid to ask.
