Ranchers claim livestock has been sickened by toxic chemicals in fertilizer made from sewage. Now Synagro, a Goldman Sachs-backed firm, has lost a deal to make sludge fertilizer there.
The City of Fort Worth, Texas, is ending its contract with Synagro, the Goldman Sachs-backed provider of fertilizer made from sewage sludge, over concerns that “forever chemicals” in the fertilizer are contaminating local farmland and groundwater.

A surprising AP photograph of an undamaged Volkswagen van surrounded by destruction from a Los Angeles wildfire has astonished viewers.
Preston Martin figured the retro blue Volkswagen van he slept in for a year during college was a goner, given that he parked it in a Malibu neighborhood just before the Palisades fire.
So the surfboard maker was stunned to find that the vehicle survived. “There is magic in that van,” Martin said.
