The Bowman cards are reprints.
The Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?
Now that you've seen this year's generic boilerplate WBC uniforms, who wants to admit they were wrong about Great Britton's 2023 WBC look (and that I was right)?
See, my kid has always called Juan Soto "Han Solo," so that would have been confusing in my household.
Isn't that Benny Goodman at the table behind them?
I'm crushed that you guys didn't like either of these (because I was hoping both would be fun).
I'm also wondering if the two of you discussed the fact that both reviews open with "There's a moment early in [movie] . . .".
In honor of the first day of the 2026 World Baseball Classic, here’s a game-by-game recap of the 2023 tournament…
Speaking of . . . the Jersey Diners (Somerset Patriots) just released a Happy Waitress cap:
The World Baseball Classic is about to begin and we've been writing a ton of stories at dotcom. I'm going to run through some of my previews here if you're just now getting on board.
@mattmonagan.bsky.social, David Adler and I did a preview for all four pools: www.mlb.com/news/world-b...
I could maybe see going to Sunday and leaving after My Morning Jacket. Otherwise, no thanks.
If you work in film or TV in any capacity, you can help stop the merger. Read this:
My god what a sight for sore eyes
It's been a minute since I've posted a completed 2-page (18-card) team (in part b/c I won't pay $30 for a 1966 Ron Perranoski, so my 1965 WS Champ Dodgers will remain 1 card short). Here, however, is my just-completed World Champ 1959 Dodgers (I cheaped out a bit here, too; the Koufax is a reprint):
Jesse Jackson appeared on Sesame Street in 1973.
During his appearance, he led a group of children in reciting his well-known poem “I Am Somebody,” a message focused on self-worth and empowerment
The segment became one of the most memorable celebrity appearances from the early seasons of the show.
Melle Mel's banger in support of Jesse Jackson's first presidential run in 1984.
"Governor Sherrill also launched a new state website so New Jerseyans can quickly find information about their rights when interacting with federal agents."

I will not support any funding deal that puts money in the hands of Stephen Miller, Kristi Noem, and this violent agency. Defund and abolish ICE now.
Baseball is coming ...
Pitchers and catchers start reporting this week! #SpringTraining
wild night here in NJ as the primary for NJ-11 gets called for Malinowski - before Mejia takes the lead.
It always feels weird to do self-promotion when everything is what it is, but I have this long-running podcast that comments on all of this through the microcosm of baseball. I should stop keeping it a secret. It's called the Infinite Inning and you can find it most everywhere podcasts live.
That's funny, because, back when that song was new, that was my least-favorite song.
The US immigrant population generated more in taxes than they received in benefits from all levels of government every year from 1994 to 2023.
The Cato study provides the first-ever 30-year analysis of the fiscal effects of immigration on government budgets.

Interesting. I've been doing the 16:8 thing for almost a year now and have lost significant weight, but for me it's only about calorie restriction, and I associate any other benefits with the resulting weight loss. The restriction comes from skipping a meal & limiting snacking to between two others.
Congrats! Looking forward to reading it.
Ah, okay. Thanks for your work.
That’s not a complete list, because we know Ohtani was denied insurance to pitch. Still, are there *no* other non-Latin players who have been denied? That’s a bad look for the tournament and the insurance company.
And deservedly so. Thanks for bringing this to my attention:

Reds (1981) Warren Beatty’s crowning achievement as a filmmaker is this true story of an epic romance between two American journalists set against the rise and curdling of Bolshevism in the U.S. and Russia in the 1910s. Engaging for 3+ hours thanks to good humor & Diane Keaton’s co-lead performance.
The Devil and Miss Jones (1941) Pleasant left-wing fantasy from writer Norman Krasna about a grinchy billionaire who goes undercover among his employees to put down a labor movement & his heart grows three sizes. Excellent cast, strong direction. Great police station scene about nonviolent protest.
