I haven’t said much about this, but it feels appropriate, now. The rage I feel about the Epstein files is the same rage I felt when the news about Wesley Lowery’s behavior came out, and the way journalists I trusted and respected (notice those are past tense) reacted to it.

...As I was reviewing my files again, page by page, I did in fact discover that I do have a copy of the search warrant.”

It took us two months to obtain a copy of the warrant and this story is the result.

“I was in the process of writing you a reply on Friday afternoon and decided to look through all my paperwork, one more time, to ensure that I, in fact, did not have nor have I ever received a search warrant for the city of Carlyle...

We pressed again, but this time with the help of the Illinois Public Access Counselor’s office. Myers replied in an email to the three of us:

First, Carlyle city administrator Brad Myers told us he couldn’t give us a copy of the warrant because it is an ongoing investigation. We pressed and asked again. He then told us the city did not have a copy of the warrant.

When news of the FBI search at the police department in Carlyle, located about an hour east of St. Louis, came to light, @bhundsdorfer.bsky.social and I were there reporting on ICE activity in Clinton County. So we dropped off a Freedom of Information Act request for the search warrant.
