Federal Judge Orders Closure of “Alligator Alcatraz” The judge sided with plaintiffs who said the Everglades detention camp was significantly damaging the ecosystem.

A federal judge on Thursday ordered the shutdown of the so-called “Alligator Alcatraz” immigrant detention facility in the Florida Everglades, saying that the facility was doing significant damage to the ecosystem of the Everglades.
