We baked some pies for Thanksgiving:
A standard apple pie (my second ever!)
A chocolate crust pecan pie

Cannot wait to dig into these tomorrow

That's what I did the first time, and this time I just cut loose. I did end up drafting a lot of my cards but that's what I was hoping to play, oh well!

This time around I wanted to play with the no-cost suspend cards like Ancestral Vision or Restore Balance, and I drafted a lot of mine to create this UG ramp-cheat deck.

An absolute blast, and a great way to celebrate a friend's birthday!

Everyone brings 45 cards and 5 of each land sleeved up in a unique color with whatever rules for the 45 you want, then it's shuffled up and drafted.

A few of the recent iterations have made midrange appear to an extent, but they're not premier archetypes. GB garbo used to be a winrate death knell, now it's an actual thing to draft.

I do agree the samey-ness of vintage cubes can be a drawback, especially when it comes to WX aggro.

I'm glad you enjoyed it! I've yet to flip my own Grist, still hunting the elusive Magma Opus -> Arcane Bombardment.

I got welded hard the last time I drafted Chicago too. It's the boogeyman for sure.

30-40 is a good range, depending on how many nonbasics they're drafting as well. Are you expecting a lot of 2 color decks? Go towards 40. 3+ colors easy to draft? You could scoot closer to 30.

It's worth it, most of the stuff for iPod classics is plug-and-play replacements. The bluetooth and USB-C stuff requires some soldering. You can also install custom firmware (with an installer, super easy) that'll let you run Doom on it.

Its purpose was to troll the absolute idea of Magic and to ensure that the handful of players who 3-0'd were the sickest fools in the world. They were success-adjacent. Today, the Junkies call it Nonsense Camp. The flyers call it: DANGER ZONE
