Really enjoyed this, Kieran. It's so hard to write a short story that covers a period of years - I've never been able to do it, but you've done it brilliantly.

Thanks to B+H for publishing this story. Proud to see it on the site. I wanted to cover about 20 years in a series of vignettes, but while I worked on it over the last year, it turned into a piece about the death of Toryism as we knew it. And also a meditation on masturbation. I hope you like it.

My March #CraftArticle is a contemplation on "bad" writing and "good" writers and whether those terms actually have any place in our literary world, thinking about subjectivity, spiky profiles, and eating chocolate:

I'm halfway through this and it's great. An utterly beguiling mix of Kafka and Auster and something completely it's own.

Sorry to hear this, Rónán. You are a tremendously welcome presence on my timeline. For me, this place (and Twitter in the old days) has been absolutely invaluable for discovering books, writers, publishers etc. I wouldn't otherwise hear about

(PS let's go to the Vic together someday)
