Jesus Christ. Furry HOA is so accurate! I don’t know why people need to make the one thing that should be fun into work or complicated. The thing that was always the escape from work is now the thing that is like “I AM THE BOSS NOW. I CAN BULLY YOU NOW. I AM A POLITICIAN NOW.”
Yeah “growing up/growing old/world changing” is all super real. The thing that bums me out is when the people that are making things unfun are also my age haha. It’s not like “gahh I hate these little kids” it’s like “why can’t people my own age be normal?”
Just getting back from 3 week tour, then going to work at the theater setting up for another band’s show and doing spotlight…

But lately, as an older person, maybe wiser, it's getting harder to have fun when there's so much drama and bullshit surrounding everything.
It's said that you can't quit furry, and I'm not, but goddamn, some people really can suck the fun out of something that's been a refuge for 20+ years.
I met a lot of friends through furry in those years, went to cons, meets, parties, did regular stuff with furry friends. I was called Nuka more than my real name for a long time. I got art, a couple fursuits. It was a lot of fun.
My guitar skills got better, my taste in music has evolved through the years, skateboarding took a backseat to music, but the spirit of these things colored everything I have done. And furry was right there beside everything.
I don't know who this post is really for, maybe it's just meant for me.
I've really soured on furry as lately. I first found furry in 1999, around the same time I started playing guitar, listening to punk rock, and skateboarding. These things all shaped my life and defined who I've become.
Claire had such a cool character design. Especially back THEN when a lot of people weren't really reaching for something so distinct, but she still stands out in my mind.
