Two HUGE moments in Hollywood - happening in the same week (potentially).

Buckle up!

March 2026 could prove to be a very consequential month for most of Hollywood...

In the early half of the month, both Paramount-Skydance and Netflix will be making their respective cases to WBD Shareholders over whether to accept the Netflix deal or not before the votes are cast at a TBD

Dana Walden (who was the runner-up for the CEO seat) has gained a lofty new position of President and Chief Creative Officer of Disney.

Changes are coming - at last!

We all know who the new Disney CEO is (thanks Bloomberg) but the Disney Board want to drag this out just a little bit more.

When we get official confirmation later this week, I hope things then start to move fast at the House of Mouse...

Nancy Meyers returning to making lavish romantic-comedies in Christmas 2027 is quite possibly the biggest thrill I've felt in a Hollywood greenlight in a while...

"The Devil Wears Prada 2" and "Zootopia 2" greenlights are probably the only ones in recent memory that got me as excited!

"Agatha Christie's Seven Dials" on Netflix was actually quite brilliant!

Although the twists were a little obvious at times, the acting overall was superb across the board and Mia McKenna Bruce had a STAR turn in my view.

I'd gladly have a slightly bigger mystery for a S2 with the Seven Dials!

REMINDER - DISNEY EARNINGS - MONDAY 2ND FEB @ 12:00 GMT:

Disney are reporting their Earnings before the market opens on Monday, which is a very rare move especially for a company of Disney's size (Disney have in fact never done it).

Could the new CEO be imminent / what else could be in store?

That's not in any particular order, by the way, and I have to also shout-out Hulu's Animation line-up of:

- The Simpsons
- Family Guy
- Futurama
- Bob's Burgers

If you like a few of my Top 10 or the Hulu Animation shows I mentioned, we will get along as friends fantastically!

The biggest Oscar snub this year, in my view?

Ariana Grande - both for "Best Supporting Actress" and "Best Original Song" categories.

Say what you want about "Wicked: For Good"'s UNpopular second-act but Ariana delivered a knockout performance of the year!

And the song was her character's journey

That "Masters Of The Universe" Trailer absolutely sold me on the movie - I actually fully forgot Jared Leto was even in it as the villain (who is shown multiple times) to be honest!

Sharp visuals, stunning world building, emotional stakes, bright colours, humour without being overly goofball...

Do because I am confident that a sequel of the same scale, with the same creative team and more affinity with audiences would drastically improve results - plus Amazon-MGM are SO light on blockbusters (James Bond aside).

22.01.2026 14:34 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

My one worry at this point is that it will suffer a very similar fate to the most recent "Dungeons & Dragons" film, which was incredible but simply not considered relevant to many audiences.

Amazon-MGM can afford to take a financial loss and still invest in the IP's future though, which I hope they

Disney's CEO succession announcement is happening in February.

Will it be Josh D'Amaro and/or Dana Walden and/or an outside candidate?

From what I understand so far, expect a big reorg with new roles at the top to support the new CEO.

Disney Earnings are being held on MONDAY 2nd Feb @ 11:00 GMT!

The investors screaming at Netflix that they're making a huge mistake going for Warner Bros have misunderstood Netflix's business entirely...

Netflix have a very successful service already, yes, but they have largely reached the ceiling of what they can achieve (within Movies & TV) without WB.

21.01.2026 20:44 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 1    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Wall Street, in my opinion, needs to get a grip and realise the massive opportunities of this deal for Netflix.

If they can get WB *and* execute on their new ventures over the next decade, Netflix should be a trillion-dollar company as they build a Media ecosystem rivalling even Apple and Amazon.

21.01.2026 20:54 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Consider Netflix's hit rate for IP - let's say they have built (in my view, generously) 100 owned IP over the past decade.

That's impressive across Movies & TV.

But Warner gives access to approximately 20x that amount - varying in size - and including "classics" that can be remade/retold today.

21.01.2026 20:52 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

I haven't even mentioned the most obvious of rationales and that's the irreplaceable (and increasingly rare) IP that Warner Bros control.

Yes, Netflix have built some incredible IP on their own (Squid Game, Stranger Things, Bridgerton) but they need MUCH more to explore whilst they build new ones.

21.01.2026 20:50 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

And Games - the Hollywood division has to remain at the core of the service for consumers, so how do you make it clearly more valuable than the other ventures?

You buy a massive library that will grow parallel to the Netflix Originals library and that they have PERMANENT ownership of to exploit.

21.01.2026 20:49 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Bringing in external businesses to Netflix that feed directly into their core service (Theatrical, Licencing, Consumer Products & Experiences, etc.) is a smart rationale for the deal by itself.

Then you add in the fact that Netflix are actively trying to expand into new areas such as Podcasts, Live
