wouldn't work in today's world since hating 'AI' has become a leftist position

muted a thread because the interlocutor obviously did not know basic facts about history and politics even though it would so scratch an itch to keep hammering home how wrong they are ๐Ÿ˜‡

I do not think revolutions are 'the most authoritarian possible'. In history, revolutions have been one of the few ways to remove authoritarianism.

I didn't know dating apps policed sexual language. I guess it makes sense if it's just for opening comments where I imagine women get a lot of unwelcome opening comments ... ?

People will be like "I would do anything for my kids!" right up until you suggest creating a walkable, bike-able community where kids can safely get around on their own

And thatโ€™s where Iโ€™m saying the ex-Soviet conception of communism differs from Western cosplay communists who love authoritarianism

Thereโ€™s also moral judgment involved; like people donโ€™t judge in the same way if you spend hours of a weekend reading โ€œseriousโ€ books vs playing video games

I think this is why Iโ€™m much more ok with the disco Elysium tone compared to what American โ€œcommunistsโ€ will say. Thereโ€™s no sense of irony or cynicism when the latter push the ideology. Theyโ€™re 100% earnest in a way that sits very badly with the horrible human rights track record

Newcastle Light Rail is the first full catenary-free system in the southern hemisphere. Features like the revolutionary on-board energy storage and rapid charge system at the light rail stops saw the project awarded the Australian Construction Achievement Award in 2020.

The light rail system runs 2.7km in length from Wickham to Newcastle Beach, incorporating six stops and a light rail vehicle maintenance facility along the way.

The $252 million project, involving complex stakeholder interfaces and a busy urban environment, was delivered within the 60-month timeframe without compromising on quality or safety.

This project, delivered under a Managing Contractor model, is an excellent example of meeting critical milestones safely through positive relationships and communication between contractor, customer, city, council, and community.

There are bad transit projects.

And then there is spending $252 million for a 2.7 km tramway to replace a perfectly functioning railway to carry an impressive 2,900 people per day. Then getting an award for it.

This is the most Anglosphere thing ever.

This is hilarious because people who are into real โ€œspreadsheet gamesโ€ will tell you that disco elysium does not remotely approach being one

I was approaching it like creating a story and did not do any elaborate calculations. It really isnโ€™t about optimization the way spreadsheet games are

it's funny when ai ethicists make a big deal about having conference locations outside the global north, but disapprove when multinational companies hire indians instead of americans.
