this is exactly right, and it bears repeating a million times over: we're not pro-Obamacare because we're partisans; we're just simply old and/or aware enough to understand that it was *the start of a series of systematic reforms* THAT REPUBLICANS HAVE NOW BLOCKED FOR A FULL GENERATION.

The media reporters are already circling you like a pack of wolves. Like, take your opening memo to the news division, the one about "the same core journalistic values that defined this profession from the beginning," which for some reason includes using "all the tools of the digital era." Not only could it have been better edited, and based on actual journalistic history, but you might have held off on insinuating you intend to incorporate Al slop into the work process until sometime after your first day. Consider all the people you now lead who have actual reporting experience. Do you think they are going to do something other than call their favorite media reporter the moment you interject yourself into a story or impose some nonsensical Al "bias meter" review?

there's a vicious circle between the dysfunction in red communities and their social conservatism. the dysfunction justifies disturbing levels of social control because they claim it shows people can't have freedom, but the social control does little to stop the sinning and even makes it worse

they were like 'I forgot there was this protest with all these old people...' (said in a deprecating tone) and wanted us to sympathize, while I was getting into my costume. good luck with getting old, girl. n/n

White words on a black background read:

50+
Immigration agents have the authority to detain whom they reasonably suspect are in the country illegally. We found more than 50 Americans who were held after agents questioned their citizenship. They were almost all Latino.

~130
Agents also can arrest citizens who allegedly interfered with or assaulted officers. We compiled cases of about 130 Americans, including a dozen elected officials, accused of assaulting or impeding officers.

~20
Among the citizens detained are nearly 20 children, including two with cancer.

Hi, I'm the ProPublica reporter who's been tracking an unusual stat: U.S. citizens grabbed by immigration agents.

I did it because the government isn’t.

This is what I found.

rich people in Persia, just as in europe and america before refrigeration, were able to have ice cut from the mountains and shipped to them, then stored in ice houses.

my opinion on windowless bedrooms depends on my living situation. in my current situation (live only with partner, don't spend any time in bedroom except to sleep) windowless bedroom would be fine. But if I had roommates and my bedroom was also my office/only personal space, I'd want windows

17.10.2025 22:27 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

people also tend to express the 'problematic' norm selectively. if someone they view as an ally is 'problematic', that's just them being weird in a way that doesn't detract from the overall mission, but if someone on the 'other side' is 'problematic', that proves the moral iniquity of the other side

I tend to think of this as a maybe trivial but nevertheless revealing symptom of a more serious problem, which is that we seem to have just abandoned as hopelessly prissy and naive any notion that we ought ideally to approach politics as our best selves.

πŸ“ŠKey insights:

‼️Noise in benchmarks is substantial! For some datasets, up to 90% of reported β€œmodel errors” actually stem from *bad data* instead of model failures.
🧠 After benchmark cleaning, even top LLMs fail on simple, unambiguous platinum benchmark tasks.
