That is totally understandable and i respect that.

From what i see the only part that can be bad to upscale is for the font readability of the font. An unwanted altered font would be a bad user experience.
I love the artstyle choice you're going for, but knowing me i'll have an hard time to go through all the game without a headache.

readability > aesthetic
If you can, give the choice to the player.
