I enjoyed playing with the orange/blue colour palette on this one. A couple of the paintings I did over winter had this combination of colours, quite unintentionally, and I loved the warmth of it.

Gerald Brockhurst in the 1930s, made a series of prints in which the faces of his sitters were highly finished but the hair or their head coverings were left as outlines. This drawing shares that same aesthetic.
