Yah in a complicated system you don't lose progress even when it's slow you just find more steps, but when it's punishing it can become discouraging as you may unknowingly break several rules or skip important steps that will set you back possibly hours.

I think it depends on the flavour of realism, i find "realistic" games that complicate simple processes considerably more playable than those that punish you harshly for mistakes. i.e making a copper pick in vintage story versus doing most things in project Zomboid

if enough people add a tag, it should show up as part of a games default tags, yeah? so even if the devs of a game wont admit there's AI in something, we can still collectively warn people.
