The Pregler Lab in the USGS New Mexico Cooperative Research Unit and the Department of Fish, Wildlife, & Conservation Ecology invite applications for a MS assistantship beginning fall 2024. This position will focus on conservation genomics of Pecos pupfish populations in New Mexico. The student will investigate (1) population structure, (2) evidence of selection/local adaptation, & (3) potential admixture with sheepshead minnow. Results will help guide future translocation efforts and inform a genetic monitoring plan for Pecos pupfish.
