Classifying pediatric brain tumors by liquid biopsy using artificial intelligence See how M-PACT, an AI-powered algorithm can sift through ctDNA in cerebrospinal fluid and molecularly classify tumors based on their DNA methylation pattern

St. Jude researchers and collaborators developed M-PACT, a tool that leverages AI to classify pediatric brain tumors using cell free DNA from cerebrospinal fluid. The approach could improve diagnosis and disease monitoring when tissue biopsy is not feasible. ow.ly/aUcU50Yh2bb

Anyone ever tried super glue (cyanoacrylate) for mounting coverslips with stained mammalian cells, to be used for fluorescence microscopy?
I'm looking for ways to conserve microscopy samples for a looooooong time...

Granted, a benefit of Cy-ExM is that you don't have to worry about fluorophore retention through gelation!

Papers on peptide modification by KPS/TEMED and on APS/TEMED optimization for fluorophore retention

I had run across a few papers describing peptide modifications by TEMED and persulfates (granted the rxn conditions are quite different) as well as APS/TEMED optimization for fluorophore retention, so I was eager to learn if your paper had any new optimization in the gel recipe.

I enjoyed reading the paper, and the figures are very well-designed.

I had a question from within the methods. Is 5% TEMED correct? It seems high, but I'd be curious to hear more details if you found a higher concentration to be beneficial. Best wishes.

A loaded question to scream about...which agarose do you use to mix your beads to measure the PSF? Any brand #lsfm #lightsheet

Defending PhD student, looking over their thesis: “If I knew then what I know now, I could’ve done all of this in like 9 months.”

A thread about my favorite pioneering cave explorers and why I don’t think AI will ever “solve” biology.

Yup, I started recommending it more broadly during book 3, where I felt like the big themes become more prominent. Or perhaps more importantly, the characters are becoming more proactive about their situation instead of reactive.

Just started book 4 and enjoying the series. I would be shocked if it isn’t made into a movie.

And my project on how to extend the field of depth in inverted fluorescence microscopy workflows for expanded tissues is now out out! 😁

More exciting things to come out of my PhD! 🤩

Microscopy Bat signal!

I want to compile a list of biological samples that demonstrate microscope capabilities, including the reagents to generate them. Please send me anything you know of!! Beads are great for QC, but there's a different teaching benefit with biology. 1/n

Has anyone had this problem? A hydrophobic water objective? The objective is great but we struggle to keep the water on the lens...

-> Maybe a solution is to paint a circle around the nose with a 'hydrophobic barrier pap pen" (link below). Has anyone tried this?

Ever wondered if analyzing your images by using intensity Z-projections impacts your data?

Happy to announce my guest article in Microscopy & Analysis on that topic. It's a very short read but worth for everyone dealing with image analysis!

Do you like building novel optical microscopes to answer complex biological questions? How about doing that as part of one of the world’s most unique and vibrant research and education communities, which is incidentally located in a beautiful seaside New England village? 🐙🌊🔬

I’m so happy that you both developed and collected such a great variety of LUTs. I think it has allowed for more productive discussion and appreciation of LUTs to occur amongst Fijifolk :)
