I think gAI at game jams is *particularly* fucking gross. Game jams are all about celebrating creativity and cooperation. They're about trying a new skill, or working with someone new. They're about celebrating the joy of creation in all its messy, buggy, and most importantly, human glory.

GGJ spent all day yesterday arguing about this and have decided to do absolutely fuck all. They're whining that the gAI was maybe mistagged. Yet again their leadership is spineless and tiresome. EdJam26 will be platforming a local artists work (@clasticartistic.bsky.social) instead at our keynote.

It's cool and normal that the GGJ seem to be using gAI in their keynote, and instead of saying "sorry, we'll clip that bit out" they've decided to say it "they made a good-faith effort" and the gAI is "minimal and unintentional"

They've spent longer defending it than it would take to edit it out?

Oh, nice! I played the original a few years ago and it had some fun mechanics, for sure. Never tried the campaign stuff, though. I hope you enjoy it!

I think they already do have a lot of AI stuff on DuckDuckGo, it's just you can turn most of it off, thankfully? Hopefully this will make them realise it's important to continue to make that easy!

zomg it's only two weeks until #edjam -- did I mention that the traditional pretzel barrel is secure? 👀🥨

It's not even a slightly difficult problem? Common subtitle file types are just simple text files with ordered time stamps and plain text. It's the sort of problem you can give to a second year CS student for a coursework. And yet here it's been mistiming subtitles since videos came in.

Learning that one of the Bluesky developers is a vibe coding weirdo who asks Claude to fix everything for him (rather than another human being) really explains why the subtitle timing here is hilariously broken, despite it being a completely solved problem everywhere else.

In the last two days I've confirmed the venue and, maybe more importantly, the snacks are sorted and ready to go!
