It’s been a while since my political science classes but I remember that people generally don’t like it when the government starts doing overtly brutal shit to people who remind them of themselves

What the bad people think happens...
Any Mom: I have questions about the infant vaccines.
Me: Fuck you antivaxxer. Good luck on finding new doctor as great as I am.

What actually happens...
Mom: I have some vaccine questions.
Me: Sure, lets talk about each one and why I want your baby to get them.

Artistic nudity? No, no, AUTISTIC nudity.

I’m bare-ass naked obliviously explaining the issues that plagued the Mark 14 torpedo during WWII to someone who got bored of this fifteen minutes ago and would very much like to bone already

I keep telling people this. They say "you've changed" because they imagine that back in high school, I thought the same way they did. I did not. My political views and values were formed early and have not really changed that much.

That sounds like Douglas Adams' concept of "The Shoe Event Horizon," where entire planetary economies turned to only producing ugly, unwearable shoes.

Yom Kippur is a day of reflection, of forgiveness, of restoration. This year, may we all pray for a better, kinder, more peaceful future.

Wishing all who observe across the five boroughs and the world a meaningful, easy fast. G’mar chatimah tovah.

Has anyone written about how postmodernism has just completely consumed the right? It's obviously consumed liberalism too but that's predictable; what's wild is seeing the people who are supposed to believe in Truth constantly subjectify everything

Today I got to witness a co worker type up a prompt that was like a page long to get three lines of blatantly incorrect code

I know we're desensitized, but it's important to note, again, that today's events would have led to the immediate impeachment & removal of any president from at least Truman to at least Obama. We're hundreds of miles on the interstate past Richard Nixon's high school prank-level crimes compared to 👇

TED CRUZ on Brendan Carr, ABC and Jimmy Kimmel: “It is unbelievably dangerous for government to put itself in the position of saying, ‘We’re going to decide what speech we like and what we don't, and we're going to threaten to take you off air if we don't like what you're saying.’”

Stephen Miller's wife shares that he only eats mayonnaise The entire JD Vance interview on Katie Miller's podcast is a desperate attempt to humanize not only Vance but the whole cabinet of weirdos.

How did I miss this important but in retrospect completely obvious revelation? boingboing.net/2025/08/13/s...

I agree, from Russia with Love is my favorite Connery Bond film. It is paced wonderfully and has some of the best chase scenes in the whole franchise.

True. Prescient in that way. Although, it's still a pretty ridiculous movie, and undermines itself by turning a moderately serious setup into a ridiculous climax full of slapstick zero-gee fight scenes. I recently read Moonraker, the novel, and it's a far more serious story.

We built a calculator that doesn't work, but don't worry, it's also a plagiarism machine that will tell you to kill yourself. It runs on the world's oceans and costs 10 trillion dollars.

My students, who attend a working-class rust-belt college, openly talk abt how much they hate AI & are afraid of its consequences. I wonder how much of the oft-reported student enthusiasm for the tech is the merely result of the NYT’s Ivy League bias

Social media (I think tumblr) post by ginnydi, reading:
Okay, here's the problem with the idea that oppressed groups can "alienate allies" by not being nice enough:

You shouldn't be an ally because oppressed groups are nice to you. You should be an ally because you believe they deserve basic human rights. Hearing "I hate men" shouldn't make men stop being feminist. Hearing "fuck white people" shouldn't make white people stop opposing racism.

Your opposition to oppresion should be moral, and immovable. Your believe that all humans should be treated with equal respect shouldn't be conditional based on whether or not individual people are nice to you.

Love it. 79 year old man starts worrying the next big deal will be at the Pearly Gates. Fill your cup, mate! Do good while you can!
(But just so you know, if you think the lawyers down here are tough, just you wait till you meet Heaven's legal eagles! Discovery is gonna be HELL!)

Watching liberals blather gibberish about Israel and Palestine is horrifying. It's like an AIPAC handler got falling-down drunk and vomited up a word salad in a hotel bar at 4am, to the edification of no one but the extremely patient bartender.

ICE is behaving as if it is an unaccountable secret police. Proving they’re accountable has to be the top priority of Democrats and states everywhere.

Goodbye, $165,000 Tech Jobs. Student Coders Seek Work at Chipotle.

"Among college graduates ages 22 to 27, computer science and computer engineering majors are facing some of the highest unemployment rates, 6.1% and 7.5% respectively ...

That is more than double the unemployment rate among recent biology and art history graduates, which is just 3%"
