I personally wish she had passed on the senate run and instead angled for returning to congress. She’s undoubtedly a good communicator, but I think she will have trouble in this Gov race. The left thinks shes center left while the center thinks shes left. And she doesnt know which she is. Bad combo

She’s taking a moderate heel turn as of late. Especially since her failed run for a Senate and now her running for governor. She’s listening to the same pollsters and pundits who were behind Kamala Harris’s loss.

It’s definitely a bad idea. The far better solution to inequality is a wealth tax.

Quote tweet from Senator Tuberville - “the enemy is inside the gates.”

Let there be as much outrage from politicians in Washington when kids go hungry as there is when I break bread with New Yorkers.

This is an irresponsible, misleading post that misrepresents what Leavitt said. There's enough awful stuff happening. Don't confuse people.

Freuchen was even more contused by the Kepublicans. In that era, the party was controlled by an elite caste of power brokers, very capitalist in their outlook, who widened their popularity by appealing to vague ideas of "liberty" without specifically defining what they meant by that word. Whenever Freuchen lunched with Republicans, he was taken aback by how many of them honestly believed that Franklin Roosevelt and his New Dealers were determined to destroy the country. Some even conflated FDR's ambitious plans to save the U.S. economy with Soviet-style Communism—a ridiculous comparison, especially for someone like Freuchen, who had seen disappointing Soviet-style Communism firsthand. He also found it disheartening to witness how often church ministers —people who were supposed to protect the poor, according to the Bible-were used by Republicans as pawns in a class war, abandoning their duty to side with sufferers against those who afflicted them. The party's base, somewhat ironically, was composed of people whose economic welfare was often undermined by Republican policies. Taking an opportunity to join an American church service, Freuchen once witnessed a minister address a recent unionization battle by urging his congregation to pray against the "terrible workers who were going to destroy the 'peace' our brave soldiers had fought for," he reported to Kent. Destroy the peace? To Freuchen, these workers were just trying to preserve their dignity with a living wage. He suspected ulterior motives lurking beneath the Republicans' rhetoric.
"I really think this is a racket to keep up meat prices and stocks and what not," he complained. "Nobody really believes in it themselves, because who should be interested in war but those capitalists who make the war material?"

Time is a flat circle. I feel like I am going to go insane.

From “Wanderlust”, recommended to me by @swordsjew.bsky.social, and thus I recommend to all of you, because there’s a lot to like about Peter Freuchen, not least of which were his massive antifascist tendencies.

Brian McGinnis' wife has
NOT been allowed to see him in the hospital.
He is currently awaiting surgery for severe injuries.
Legal counsel has also been denied access.
A Marine veteran.
A firefighter.
A father of four.
And his family still cannot see him.

so apparently Brian McGinnis has been denied access to both his family and legal representation since a sitting senator broke his arm

This is why I like the longshot idea of Michelle Wu for president. Shed be a steady hand, and an iron lady. I could see her guiding a movement, and being bold enough to staff the ftc with Lina Khan once more, and for lther key cabinet spots, Mamdani deputy mayors. She also could win reelection comfy

Exclusive: Democrats face their own test on Trump’s Iran war A war powers vote is shining a light on how differently the opposition talks about the conflict.

How should Dems talk about the Iran war? Sen. Heinrich: "The more clearly you can say this seems like a really stupid f*cking idea. I think the more people will appreciate what you’re getting at.”

Still, it could take GOP resources from more frontline races, in say the final 3-4 weeks. JBE wouldnt even need to do much campaigning to achieve that result. Just his name recognition and his face on ads would mean a good poll.

Makes me think of Mandela Barnes and if dems actually spent there..

Polling right now has Talarico close to Cornyn. Trump is underwater on approval in many TX polls. Dems writing off this race and not spending in TX would be foolish. Don't let Talarico become the next Mandela Barnes!
