Unless the context is, specifically, "Harry Potter is made by a rampant transphobe" you gotta bring it up. Starve out that cultural relevance. It should be the bare minimum that it cannot be brought up in 2026 without her transphobia immediately following it, even if you're just Doin Goofs.

It's honestly one of my biggest annoyances these days, when comedians or actors or online personalities I know support trans people and are allies will make a joke about the Sorting Hat or Slytherin or whatever the fuck and everyone laughs and just moves on. Nope. Can't have one without the other.

THIS is what we need more of. Don't wait for a journalist to ask about it, don't assume someone else will mention it, if Harry Potter is brought up and you are someone of even a little authority or platform--offer a message of support to trans people. You can't let it be mentioned without that.

This is so important because A) she did it in response to Benedict Wong, a far more prominent actor, saying he's listening to the audiobooks a lot and B) did it unprompted, she specifically stopped the fluff interview to draw the comparison to the themes of their film and support trans people.

Only have a character do one action per panel. There are some exceptions like when The Flash zips around with after-images and does 8 things at once but for the most part, 1 panel, 1 action. Every panel needs to provide a clean, cohesive image and having someone do multiple things at once is muddy.

Okay, a real one: Every once in a while, check to make sure the version of your characters, setting, and timeline that exists in your head lines up with the information you've actually communicated to the reader. Oh also don't forget to put kids and old people in your comic. I always forget the kids, but even as a background element they create a sense of history that extends before and after the present story, which is important for stakes as well as verisimilitude
