it came about to explain core gameplay. mario collects coins & stomps goombas...
but 'evolved' into claiming that every game needs one specific gameplay loop that should be continuously repeated over 200 hours with slightly incremental progression to feed the player breadcrumbs into playing forever.

Toby himself said he's a bad programmer... but i kinda have to disagree with him. The amount of trickery going on in Undertale is massively impressive for an amateur team.

the dozens of neutral endings, FUN seed value with Gaster, meta game detection, & all the shmup gameplay.

Mario's Worlds, Zelda's Dungeons, Metroid's Zones. these all have unique gimmicks & thematics to it. new abilities, powerups, special enemies and so on...

modern game design champions instead that every new area should just be slightly different than the other. no new enemies or gimmicks.

the problem becomes how the wider industry has taken the meaning of 'gameplay loop' to mean having the player do the exact same thing with incremental breadcrumbs.

and yet Nintendo games, which have the simplist core gameplay, constantly provide new challenges & curveballs to the player.

been watching game development videos & whenever the term "game loop" is used, it's for the literal loop of how the entire game updates logic & displays visuals per a measurement of time.

so not only is "gameplay loop" an arbitrary game design term, it obstructs how games actually work.

fromsoft backseaters fundamentally do not understand that they are 1/ annoying as hell, and 2/ robbing the player of a chance to understand that Nah, I'd Just Win is a mindset acquired through struggle and subsequently applicable to everything outside of a video game

I actually place kid denji & HS Denji as all separate identities from the current Brainrot Denji. like they all have different headspaces.

kid denji is an orphan kid looking for a friend, relating w/patricide.

HS Denji wants to be a hero, so he vows to murderize the devils!

i have a suspicious feeling that the friend meant whatever happens in Chapter 5 be so amazing that they dont even miss Tenna, a beloved character.

... fan theory taking that & converting it into "Tenna is evil" be funny misinterpretation. and creates an good anti-spoiler misdirect unintentionally

it's FRAUD-imoto Watch if all of Denji's behavior suddenly magically disappeared...

but, it all feels like bait. a fantasy for Asa.. that all will come crumbling down once we snap back to reality.

if Asa trauma-dumped at the start of Part 2 to Denji, im sure he would have promised to murderize Yoru...

but now, Brainrot Denji was very much humanizing Yoru. saying she was just like Power & that she totally could become friendly. Fumiko made sure to instill that Yoru is a 'good girl' too.

something i wanna point out here be how Asa is talking to Denji in his HS uniform... like, from the start of Part 2. in fact the way he talks here is more accurate to how he acted back then.

this be speculation from me, but it feels like current Brainrot Denji will have a differing opinion.

biblically, the Apocalyptic Rapture is actually done by Jesus to purge the Anti-Christ. the Horsemen were simply warnings for his arrival. and that 'Heaven' is actually when Jesus takes over Earth.

.... Pochita creating his own world by erasure aint too far from that... but what will that world be?

now, my personal belief is that Pochita is intrinsically connected to the apocalypse. that his relationship with the Horsemen goes further beyond than what we truly know.

Pochita's power allows reality to be re-written. Devils are words & Pochita decides which ones stay in the dictionary.

some oddities to point out here

* baby denji turned into HS Denji, but not the current Brainrot Denji.
* Pochita very easily erased Death, and has intentionally avoided doing so to Yoru.
* Denji isnt saving Asa, but Pochita is saving Denji & Asa... seemingly.

there be a bit of irony in that creating this 'New World' might effectively be an apocalyptic scenario in of itself...

very much a 'be careful what you wish for' type of deal. especially when Pochita, who is some progenitor devil, is the one at the wheel.

what's abit funny about that is Denji aint saying he will save Asa... he's saying that Pochita will save Denji & Asa.

meaning if Pochita fails they both screwed.. or if Pochita has something planned that they, or any of us really, isnt quite thinking about then things gonna get complicated

very very curious on what exactly "Pochita's World" is.... cus something tells me, it aint what Asa or Denji are imagining.

so much of Part 2 be a reversal of what happened in Part 1... or rather, perpendicular.

Makima was so inspired by Pochita, the hero of hell, that she wanted to be eaten by him.

... now, Asa is so inspired by Denji's heroism that she wants to be eaten up too.
