This was Nova the first week she came to me. This poor girl was adopted as a kitten from the Stanislaus Animal Shelter but was later dumped/abandoned. I’ve had her since October 2023. She was not adoptable so she stayed with me and now she’s family 💕

I call this her little “tongue taco”. This is Nova. She was found by a good sam who thought she was dead. She had (and still struggles with) severe stomatitis. She has no teeth so her tongue hangs out 😛

Cat lovers! I am helping a cat in Modesto, CA receive care for a huge would. The wound is infected and possibly necrotic. The Kirkland Foundation is giving us access to their very affordable vet but we need to raise $200 to cover his care. Pls donate and share 🙏🏽

They don’t euthanise without reason but a cat who may be suffering and is maybe not healthy enough to wait his turn may be put to sleep. I am not going to be surrendering him back to them if I cannot ensure he will get the help he needs. So…

I spoke with a kind employee who answered my questions. My main concern is what would happen if I was to relinquish him to their care, since he has severe dental issues that need immediate help. She was honest; they have a long waitlist of cats needing dentals.

He’s apparently dumped the cat on more than one occasion. I was able to track down the shelter he came from, Pets in Need in Palo Alto. He had been at the shelter in 2019- a neonate with umbilical still attached. He was adopted as a kitten. His name had been “Chilli”.

I asked her what her ex’s name was and the reveal was very sad- the person who has posted her as a “found and possibly dumped” pet was the ex-boyfriend himself. He passed off his own cat as a found cat. Honestly, I would have helped the cat regardless of where it came from.

But I managed to obtain a precious owner’s contact info so I called her. She said that this cat wasn’t hers but that it was her ex-bf’s cat, which I guess they had adopted together from a shelter in Palo Alto, CA. She couldn’t remember where he was adopted from or how old he was. It was very odd.

The cat has been under my care and it is clear there is severe dental disease and perhaps other underlying issues. Since the cat was chipped I wanted to do my due diligence and locate an owner, as well as maybe a shelter or rescue where he or she had been adopted from. It took some detective work…

I shared the post with a few rescue friends and interestingly enough, one of them says someone else reached out to them about this very same cat a few days prior. They were hoping to relinquish the cat to a rescue because they were moving and couldn’t hold onto her. Screenshot of that convo here.
