What fight?
They weren’t combatants in a theatre of war! They weren’t members of a foreign military. They were occupants of a boat. If there was a concern with their cargo then they should have been detained, the cargo inspected, then arrested if found to be trafficking.
People who violate the homes of others often suffer immediate consequences for their actions. These are often some nasty individuals and I don’t lose sleep over their choices.
My concern is that a blanket application of a self defence law can be misinterpreted lead to less than lawful application.
Not completely different but more of a matter of location. VCastle Doctrine applies to one’s home and Stand Your ground applies to places outside of your home where you believe that there is a real threat. Neither have a duty to withdraw caveat.
Some states add to the confusion by blending the two.
The thing here is that Canadians have the right to protect themselves and their homes. Under Section 34 of the Criminal Code of Canada, the force you use must be reasonable in the circumstances.
They charge/prosecute many in the US who claim that their actions are protected under Castle Doctrine.

It’s disconcerting and no doubt intentional, that this administration discusses the murdered victims as if they were enemy combatants. They were not. They were civilians of countries other than the USA.
Regardless of what they were doing or alleged to be doing, they were civilians.

Premier Smith is selling queue jumping for those that can pay, then refunds the diagnostic exam fee if an intervention is required,(I’d love to see those parameters).

The city failed to add corrosion control treatment to the river water and caused lead to leach from pipes into the drinking water.
To save $ !!!
