"Three little birds pitch by my doorstep
Singing sweet songs of melodies pure and true
Saying, "This is my message to you-ou-ou""

Let's take the word deserve out of it. Arsenal lost because they failed to convert their chances. Simples. End of. Let's all move on.

It's like saying a team should have won because despite missing open goals and having the lack of technical skill to put the ball into the back of the net that because they could that somehow they have some form of moral superiority in being the winner. Sounds ridiculous dont it?

Arteta is saying that on another day they would have converted their chances or those chances should have been converted. But they didn't therefore deserve has nothing to do with it.

Havertz missing a chance within the 6 yd box doesn't mean you deserved to win.

This provokes another question, as fans we assume that the team with the higher possession and the better chances somehow deserves to win a football game. Why is that?

This is absurd in my opinion.

The objective of a football game is to score more goals than the other team!

No one ever bothers to challenge this. Why does Arteta think his team deserved to win. More chances? More Possession? XG?

FA Cup: Mikel Arteta reaction to Arsenal defeat by Manchester United Mikel Arteta says a series of missed chances cost Arsenal as they slipped to a defeat on penalties against Manchester United in the FA Cup third round.

This is Mikel Arteta saying his team "deserved to win by a mile" There is nothing more triggering for me than the use of the word "DESERVE" in football analysis or debate. It has no place. We need to move past the arguments of sentiment within a sporting context.

I know the original article gave a nod to the Johnny English series but they were really down to the captivating ads that Atkinson did in the early 1990s.

Rowan Atkinson at 70: his best films – ranked! To mark his birthday this week, we celebrate his versatility from bumbling Mr Bean to his punctilious headteacher in The Secret Policeman’s Ball

Found this a missed opportunity from the Guardian, who usually are pretty good with this kind of thing. For starters Rowan Atkinson's film career are really slim pickings & so if you are going to celebrate his career, then why not by picking from his entire body of work!

Been a tough few days. Death in the family always brings solace and reflection. Nonetheless, sometimes whilst we mourn about the loss it also a time to celebrate a life lived to the full.
