Multiscale Modelling Reveals Accelerating Community Outbreak Risks of Measles in the United States Measles resurgence in high-income countries that previously achieved elimination reveals a critical surveillance failure: current systems rely on county-level aggregates that obscure fine-scale cluste...

New study from my group on measles in the US helps explain why South Carolina’s 789‑case outbreak is exactly what you’d expect when under‑vaccinated schools and cross‑county school‑district corridors are invisible to county‑level surveillance

Point of no returns: researchers are crossing a threshold in the fight for funding With so little money to go round, the costs of competing for grants can exceed what the grants are worth. When that happens, nobody wins.

I like the recommendation "Avoid overly broad funding calls." For decades I have recommended that the Portuguese funding agency stops "calls in all domains". But it is 2026 and we are still going through these expensive motions that likely pass the Szilard point...

An Agent Revolt: Moltbook Is Not A Good Idea OpenClaw is a breakthrough AI assistant. Moltbook, its new social network for agents, is a security catastrophe waiting to happen.

'Cisco's security team put it plainly: "From a capability perspective, OpenClaw is groundbreaking. This is everything personal AI assistant developers have always wanted to achieve. From a security perspective, it's an absolute nightmare."'

Pleased to finally share this: our paper on sex-specific transcriptomic similarity networks to study comorbidities is published! This started from a simple but annoying gap: we know that women and men have different multimorbidity patterns, but we still rarely look at the underlying biology by sex.

So happy to see the nascent @cberaproject.bsky.social network collaborating on #NetworkMedicine.

Sex-specific transcriptome similarity networks elucidate comorbidity relationships - Communications Medicine Sánchez-Valle et al. analyze gene expression data from over 100 diseases to explore differences in comorbidity occurrence between sexes. They find that men and women share distinct molecular mechanism...

Oh, we can beat them forever and ever,
Then we could be heroes just for one day”.

Marco Rubio is reportedly saying Maduro will stand trial in US courts.

Which means it’s now the US administration’s position that US courts can hold foreign presidents, but not the US president, accountable for crimes.

The Empire strikes back, not just to grab oil and other riches but, fundamentally, to hide its own weakness at home – and to prepare the ground for subjugating its own people, in Chicago, Portland, NYC etc. Meanwhile, a vassal Europe watches in silence... www.theguardian.com/world/live/2...
