The Urban Wastewater Treatment Directive is also under pressure. Pharma and cosmetics industries pollute our drinking water with microplastics and want less health protection.

But municipalities can't handle wastewater treatment alone. Commission must defend our health, not profits. 3/3

The EU Commission must not cave to lobby of polluting multinationals. That would be a slap in the face to companies and citizens who invested massively in a healthy future.

Ook Afvalwaterrichtlijn staat onder druk. Pharma- en cosmetica-industrie vervuilen ons drinkwater met microplastics en willen minder bescherming van onze gezondheid. Maar gemeenten kunnen waterzuivering niet alleen aan. Commissie moet onze gezondheid verdedigen, niet winsten van multinationals. 3/3

Commissie mag niet zwichten voor lobby van vervuilende multinationals. Dat zou een slag in het gezicht zijn van bedrijven en burgers die massaal investeerden in gezonde toekomst. Mensen willen meer groen in steden, zwemmen in rivieren tijdens verstikkende zomers en propere lucht. 2/3

Milieucommissie wil garanderen dat lidstaten milieutoetsing en publieke inspraak behouden, ook bij versnelde defensieprocedures. Democratie en milieubescherming zijn geen luxe, ook niet in tijden van crisis.

Wie zich schuldig maakt aan fraude moet worden vervolgd en de politiek uit, ongeacht functie of partij. Europa verdient leiders die het algemeen belang dienen, niet hun eigen portemonnee. 3/3

De Commissie mag ook niet langer talmen met haar voorstel voor vergroening van bedrijfswagens 'made in Europe'. Samen met collega's roep ik de Commissie in een brief op om hier snel werk van te maken naar Belgisch voorbeeld. 4/4

Plug-in hybrides misleiden consumenten die denken een groene keuze te maken maar 500 euro per jaar extra betalen aan brandstof. Als Europa een toekomst wil voor zijn auto-industrie, moeten we de elektrificatie versnellen, niet vertragen. 3/4
