Europese Commissie wil hoge importmuur optrekken voor buitenlands staal De Europees Commissaris voor Industrie heeft woensdag tijdens een noodoverleg met werkgevers en vakbonden drastische beschermingsmaatregelen voor de Europese staalindustrie in het vooruitzicht gesteld.

Hogere importtarieven voor staal zijn noodzakelijke stap.

Zonder actie wordt EU overspoeld door goedkoop Chinees staal waardoor duizenden jobs verloren gaan. Optrekken van handelsmuur volstaat niet om jobs te behouden én toekomstbestendig te maken. 1/3

De nieuwe wet moet lidstaten helpen bij natuurherstel en om biodiversiteit te beschermen door betere samenwerking.

Door hiertegen te stemmen schieten we onszelf in eigen voet en maken we het ons veel moeilijker. 3/3

Die wet moet onze bossen weerbaarder maken tegen droogte en hevige bosbranden. In de EU ging vorig jaar meer dan een miljoen hectare bos in vlammen op, ze beter in kaart brengen is daarom dringend nodig.

Ook in Vlaanderen werden nog 300 voetbalvelden bos gekapt. Het overzicht is zoek. 2/3

Christendemocraten zetten volop de aanval in op onze bossen. Ze hebben een nieuwe wet tegen ontbossing met een jaar uitgesteld en willen die nu verder uitkleden.

Tegelijkertijd spannen ze opnieuw samen met extreemrechts om een andere wet te torpederen voor monitoren van gezondheid van bossen. 1/3
