25.02.2026 12:38 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Honestly, AI slop PRs are becoming increasingly draining and demoralizing for #Godot maintainers.
If you want to help, more funding so we can pay more maintainers to deal with the slop (on top of everything we do already) is the only viable solution I can think of:

I'm playing Slave Zero (1999) on PC. A simple and fun mech game that overstays its welcome a bit. It was fun to make the game actually work on windows 10 and enjoy how it presents the scale of the mega city in which the whole game takes place.

Its counter culture referencing the past and with no name of its own or sense of identity. 100% accurate.
21.02.2026 19:59 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0More Slave Zero, I've managed to play through the game without problems outside of a few sound issues that a reloaded save can easily fix. Nothing special about that game, but worth going through for the sense of scale of how big your mecha feel when you look down and tiny when you look up.
21.02.2026 19:44 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Played it a few years back it is incredibly cool but also very dense and doesn't explain itself well for more casual audiences.
21.02.2026 16:54 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I'd wish, but I hope you have an excellent day !
21.02.2026 00:28 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Been saying this for a while!
20.02.2026 20:19 โ ๐ 226 ๐ 55 ๐ฌ 3 ๐ 0It is also a proof that the US gaming industry has been in retreat for a while and unable to change course. Which is sad because a lot of people worked hard for it to not happen, they just do not have any say in the final decisions.
21.02.2026 00:11 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0It's pretty much why so many people when they learned the recent news about Microsoft are saying "Gaming is dead".
21.02.2026 00:02 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0To paraphrase a friend: stay on the path, make good things. Indie has always flourished in the face of AAA distraction. Times are bad, but let others deskill, pivot to nonsense or chase impossible outcomes. People really like playing videogames. Suits forget that every 6 months or so.
20.02.2026 21:37 โ ๐ 1296 ๐ 219 ๐ฌ 13 ๐ 14the immediate impact is one thing, but this is one of those weeks in the industry that's gonna ripple out over years, in ways we'll only learn about through reporting.
so i guess i'm saying, now is a great time to support and read the work those reporters are doing, so they can chase it.
I think it might also be different depending on the country.

20.02.2026 20:29 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0For the record, the version GOG sells is completely broken and crashed on startup.
20.02.2026 16:29 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I'm glad to share that I've managed to make Slave Zero (1999) on PC work properly. With Direct 3D graphics and support for EAX (the best sound option you could get for games at that time).
I will get through the game and test it properly to see if everything works.
The make of break question, are Doom 2 and Quake are also installed on that PC ?

19.02.2026 12:23 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0People talk about this stuff in terms of how much it'll suck for gaming and I hate to inform you how many MRI machines, X-Rays, all sorts of other vital machinery are just a Windows IoT Edition PC in a beige plastic box with a big magnet/accelerator/whatever attached.
17.02.2026 21:12 โ ๐ 7029 ๐ 3092 ๐ฌ 30 ๐ 96Like most problems with AI this too is not a problem with AI it's a problem with the mad gold rush around AI.
I have my issues with LLM and generative AI, but the really big problems are very much human behaviour, exploitation and public funding and regulatory capture by big capital.

15.02.2026 19:16 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Metaโs internal memo said the political tumult in the United States was good timing for the featureโs release. โWe will launch during a dynamic political environment where many civil society groups that we would expect to attack us would have their resources focused on other concerns,โ according to the document from Metaโs Reality Labs, which works on hardware including smart glasses.
this is comically evil. brazenly anti-social. just absolute black-pilled nihilism. we will not have a republic, we will not be free, until we regulate these companies to the point where โ at a bare minimum โ they're too afraid to put stuff like this down on paper.
