I am an exasperating spouse for similar reasons.
For the first time, scientists are tracking the migration of monarch butterflies across much of North America, actively monitoring individual insects on journeys. It could provide crucial insights into the life cycles of hundreds of flying insects at a time when many are in steep decline.

Went to a science journalism talk from @danfagin.bsky.social, who shared this mind-blowing idea: people are not irrational for ignoring scientific evidence, they're being TOO rational. They recognize that the social cost of going against their "tribe" is just not worth what they gain from the truth.
I signed. Beilock's stance is both wrong and witless. If your policy of "institutional restraint" doesn't exempt the greatest threat to higher education in memory, then your policy is actually institutional silence. And if you give in to the bully once, then he'll take your lunch money every day.
