Markwayne Mullin on the attempted deportation of Liam Ramos, a 5-year-old child of an undocumented immigrant in Minneapolis:
"This story that they’re blowing up about this 5-year-old kid is so false, is so untrue that honestly, there probably should be some lawsuits filed against this."
the standard line is that we counter lies with more speech; but when the right owns all the major news outlets & social media platforms, the idea that the truth will magically overcome their lies is not serious. We need to remake the system @deanbaker13.bsky.social cepr.net/publications...
The fundamental error of this piece is it's failure to appreciate that Trump's page is, and always has been, blank.
Trump’s suggestions that the war with Iran might soon be over are bringing a new problem to the fore: Israel and the U.S. have rather different ideas.
So I’m wondering what more it would take for everyone to finally understand that, just like he was famously awful as a businessman, Trump is completely and thoroughly horrible at managing the economy? Other than turning off Fox News, I mean.
Despite attempts by Trump to claim otherwise, the U.S. military was responsible for killing at least 175 in a strike on a school in Iran.

Here’s the reason the United States bombed the Children’s school in Iran.
And yes, it’s Trumps fault.

Former NATO chief says says Iran *can* close Strait of Hormuz -- and not much we can do:
-Iran has more than 5,000 mines
-they can be dropped by small boats, even civilian ones.
-U.S. only has handful of minesweepers
-clearing mines could take months.

I can’t stop thinking of the health consequences of the bombing of oil depots, especially when multiple hospitals are not functioning due to damage. Lives lost due to respiratory exacerbation in the context of reduced healthcare access are also casualties in this war.
I was in a 2 hour briefing today on the Iran War. All the briefings are closed, because Trump can't defend this war in public.
I obviously can't disclose classified info, but you deserve to know how incoherent and incomplete these war plans are.
1/ Here's what I can share:
Did the bombing of the girls' school at Minab flow directly from Hegseth's obsession with "lethality"? There's very good reason to believe that. And it furnishes another reason for his removal, as well as further disciplinary action against him.
"If your kid was in the armed services and you watched Pete Hegseth doing his WAR! shtick, what would you think? If it was me, I’d be sick to my stomach seeing that my child’s life was in the hands of a man with low character and lower intelligence."

Arizona is now ground zero for this cynical and profoundly anti-democratic effort, and we’re going to fight like hell to stop it.
With his poll numbers sinking, Donald Trump is abusing the powers of his office to manufacture doubt, poison trust, and build the pretext to seize elections — or to sow doubt in the result if voters reject him and his party again.
Federal agents should chase criminals, not debunked conspiracy theories. But let’s not kid ourselves about what this is...

Russian and Ukrainian officials this week made rival claims of battlefield successes in their four-year-old war, as the U.S. postponed its sponsored talks between the two sides due to the war in the Middle East.
Just out @propublica.org: How did the Pentagon make the horrible mistake that left more than 150 school children dead? Perhaps because it cancelled an effort to limit such harm in favor of Hegseth’s lust for “lethality.”

The Trump administration is gearing up to kick an estimated six million more people off of food assistance programs — including nearly two million children.
The move would save just $1 billion a year, while Trump spends upwards of $1 billion per *day* on his new forever war.
Priorities.
