If you really NEED the monster raising aspect there’s also Dragon Quest Monsters The Dark Prince but there’s unfortunately a significant drop in quality in terms of both graphics and writing in that title which is a shame because it was an anniversary release.

I think anyone disappointed with Pokemon’s Switch titles (or even anyone who isn’t) owes it to themselves to pick up Dragon Quest XI. It’s a very long game but it’s absolutely worth for the world and characters
