The way airlines jerk flyers around, sometimes you don't have a choice. I've had flights cancelled, delayed, moved, etc. If you're flying from NY to Alaska, for example, the shortest duration is 12 hours while the cheapest is 19 hours - without any delays. Even packing 2 meals might be insufficient.
