Sir Ian McKellen performing a monologue from Shakespeare’s Sir Thomas More on the Stephen Colbert show. Never have I heard this monologue performed with such a keen sense of prescience. Nor have I ever been in this exact historical moment.TY Sir Ian, for reaching us once again.

Poverty is a policy choice. Concentrated wealth is a policy choice. Inequality is a policy choice. None of it is natural or inevitable. Remember: We have the power to build a system that serves the many, not the powerful few.

1987 - The Princess Bride
1989 - When Harry Met Sally
1990 - Misery
1992 - A Few Good Men

Rob Reiner: I'm going to make a coming of age drama, a fantasy adventure story, a romantic comedy, a psychological horror and then a courtroom drama.

Us: Across your entire career?

Reiner: In a 6 year period.

Us: That sounds-

Reiner: -Each one will be arguably the best movie in that genre.

I’ll say this, when I die, if you try to summon my presence and interrupt my eternal slumber for your own personal edification, I’m going to fuck you up.

„Quiet, Piggy!“ Just think about that for a minute, and what it means to live in a time when a President can assault a woman in public like that without any consequences.
It‘s quite a testimony to the age of regression we live in.

Especially when you're transitioning from another service that has terrible sound quality, so you've turned your sound bar up to a million.

When I first saw the skeins I had to go look at your website because they're almost impossibly beautiful. I would love to see some finished objects! The colourways are amazing.

I'll cautiously say I've noticed more skepticism about AI in the corporate world and it's mostly because people's coworkers are creating extra work for them. They don't have the vocabulary to describe it yet but it's basically the "Why should I read what you couldn't be bothered to write" thing

Kamala Harris on MSNBC now saying she “always believed titans of industry” would be guardrails for democracy but now—shocker—she reports that turns out they’re not. Only, she still’s waiting! “At some point they’ve got to stand up.” This kind of willful naïveté & denial doesn’t need airtime.

“.. Quite a hot mic moment on CCTV in Beijing today as Putin and Xi, both 72 years old, are caught casually talking about living to 150 and maybe forever thanks to organ transplants. (As picked up by Bloomberg.)”

If women submitting to men was a natural way of being, they would not have needed laws, religion & violence to get them to do it.
