It happened when he was young, so the scar isn't super major.

In many ways, it's a story to make one feel sorry for the side characters.π’
Yeah, he's kind of just a kid too. A young teenager. It's hell for his parents, being unable to protect him.π
That said, this story (like most of mine) dives into the theme that physical suffering is often far less scaring than emotionally suffering.
At least his loved ones are mostly safe. -

Lawcket gets bitten by a huge dragon, very early in the story. The injury isn't exactly permanent, (though the scar does sometimes ache) but it's very notable.
It freaks his mother out, he can't walk the next morning, he limps for weeks, & is affected for months.
In book 2 -1/2
They didn't make him. He choose to. It was part of a tradition, but he didn't follow it properly anyways.
He may have done it partially because he wanted to leave without anyone seeking him out, & the tradition comes with ten days of solitude in the wilderness.
- scars from early in his life that bear any emotional meaning are actually the burn scars on his feet, from walking hot ashes. They were once a bitter reminder that he had lived under the care of other humans.

- (other than the diamond in his hand) from the injuries he received prior to being healed by the *flilient* but he certainly did between when he gained them, & when he was healed.
He had a sword slash on his arm, among other injuries which Dance healed, but which still left scars.

He has other scars, which upset Song, but which mean little to him. His chest bears deep scars from Dawn's torture, & his face nearly faded scars that only show in the right lighting.

Rider has gained many scars, but his most notable is a diamond shape engraved in his left hand.

The one whose magic depends on whether he believes he deserves it.

And sometimes the βweakestβ is the most dangerous of all.

#WIPSnips I hope it's okay to post something longer today, though I'm wondering if I should drop this prompt, bc I just can't read romance or violence, so I've barely been trying to keep up.π’
It felt so wrong being so separated from his family, and most of all from his beloved dragon, . . .
I'm not sure how I'd feel about fated love. I mean Kena *is* lovable, but I wouldn't want fate in the way.

It brings me some happiness just getting to see bits of Mireia & Kena's wholesome relationship.π
I feel a little sad about how many of your snippets I've missed, but time is so limited.π₯

I hope I enjoy it if I read it. I haven't bought books in forever.π
Tbh, I've bought very little for personal pleasure, ever. I hate spending money when I can't make much.
& I'm struggling to even read what I have.π
Nooo, please. I don't want to be enemies. I appreciate so many of your post.π
I don't so much try to make enemies, as I stand up for what I believe whatever it costs me. & strangely enough, religious people (at least as groups) seem to hate people for that.
I love your characters.π Mireia & Kena's is 1 of the few romances I think I might enjoy, but sadly I'm just not in the place in life to be an ARC reader, right now.

Center Quote: βFrom the day you left this village, you became more than merely yourself. You are the Sea Mother. This is the role fate has placed upon you. I told you when you left that I believed this path has opened up to you for a reason. I still believe that. Youβve been given a chance that few others ever haveβthe chance to change the world for the better. Iβd even dare say itβs your duty to do so, now that you have the means.β
Digital painting by me of Mireia, the MC of my Atlantis trilogy, standing with her arms spread out in front of a carved wall relief of her goddess alter-ego, Mu'u the Sea Mother. Mireia is a teenage girl with light brown skin, long dark brown wavy hair, and gray eyes, wearing a blue garment that clasps at her left shoulder, a wide purple cloth belt, and a few pieces of gold jewelry. Mu'u is a feminine figure with a large coral-like headdress, obsidian eyes, and seven scaly arms holding various objects: a skull, a fish, a hammer, a lyre, a bundle of lightning bolts, a swaddled baby, and a small boat. Behind her is a background of cliffs and sea waves full of ocean creatures & human figures sunk at the bottom.
Hey Bluesky friends!
Just another reminder that I'm currently looking for ARC readers for my book THE GODS OF ATALANTIS - coming soon!
Slow-burn romance! Fantasy politics! Magic crystals!β¨

It's also the most likely way to find true friends, not the Rider is seeking friends, or that he cares about "the right reason"
He doesn't care about morals, & frankly believes right & wrong are perversions used to control & enslave.
