It's important for trans people to go up the waterfall and tell everyone what they see.

In my head, the idea of Assigned Media really is just "What if a trans news site started from the assumption that trans people deserve to exist the same way an American news site starts from the assumption that America deserves to exist?"

I woke up horrified by what happened at the candlelight vigil in Eugene last night.

As the Oregon Nurses Association held a vigil for Alex Pretti outside the Federal Building, after Mayor Kaarin, Senator James Manning, and Representative Lisa Fragala left…Flash-bangs. Tear gas. Pepper balls.

I'll be the first to tell you I'm biased. biased to believe that trans people are beautiful and deserve respect, inherently. biased to believe that my community deserves to exist and thrive. biased to recognize that, in this moment, countless ultra powerful, wealthy forces are aligned against us.

this is exactly it. all of us believe that simply saying the truth (presenting facts without pretending that we don't have skin in the game) is extremely important, and one of those inalienable truths is that trans people deserve grace, love and autonomy over themselves.

Hate the idea of going back to the conception of protests as only valid if they are set up by a highly visible org who is committed to policing the behavior of everyone there.
