this façade is basically a 3d tessellation. stacked balconies fold into sharp zigzags turning a simple apartment block into a study in shadow repetition and modular geometry. the white planes bounce light the orange recesses deepen the voids and the whole thing reads like origami in concrete.

paris has a metro station that looks like a jules verne submarine. arts et métiers was redesigned in 1994 into a copper clad riveted steampunk capsule complete with portholes that hint at gears and inventions nodding to the nearby musée des arts et métiers.
